Upcoming games to support Mantle

GTA V was poo IMHO, too much focus on main storyline and not enough side stuff. No car hunting/collecting, too hard to get money, business owning was very limited, world was too small, the heist system failed to materialise as well, it was only setup for storyline missions.

If they can fix the lack of postgame messabout content and have Mantle, I would grab it. I think Mantle would be a dealbreaker as IV was CPU limited in a big way IIRC.

I also didn't really like the game. Best thing was the City, World small? you sure? wasn't it 5x GTA4 and also red dead into it?

I thought the map was massive, the PC news I waiting on is hopefully mod support. But even if it dont get it i'll stil buy again just for that city is nice Frame rate and graphics.
But yeah the story and missions was abit easy and boring.

That's disappointing to hear your thoughts about GTA V. Not played it myself, but I'll still get it regardless. It's just one of those games you have to buy.

Getting on PS4, I'm not building an uber powerful PC as I intend to use that mostly. Some games I just prefer on PC but the main reason is for strategy games that console don't provide.

I really enjoyed GTA V but I won't be buying it again at least until I can get it for under a tenner.

Yeah that all said even I will still buy it again. You might find it great, its not a bad game, its just a very easy game.
You fail missions not that often so you find yourself just flying through them. Least thats how I felt and do with all GTA games.

There just so simple to complete. Its the things out side the story that make me want to play them. Story and missions aside they not a better game to offer the sand box experience that GTA5 does.

Hopefully all the pending ones get support but to be honest I don't think Rockstar would be poking around with Mantle much, especially if GTA is due in a few months.

But would they even have a Mantle GPU? Most Sim players I know use the stock Intel IGP in their laptops...

Mantle works with 7xxx and newer AMD cards and a lot of people use those cards, particularly the lower end variants. When AMD open up Mantle Intel will be able to write drivers to take advantage of Mantle using Mantle source code. When that happens, those IGP users will get a nice performance buff too.

Why should it be completely different? Games can and do run like crap now (Watchdogs) and rockstar aren't exactly known for their epic PC ports. I was playing the GTA 4 DLC the other day, it's still a crappy performer.

it's a pretty safe bet the r.a.g.e engine has made some improvements in the 4 years since IV was released on the pc. and crap as watchdogs is now, it still runs better and looks better than IV.

Despite now being an AMD user (until it suites me), I just don't care that much for mantle.

Because if I go back to Nvidia, I won't have it any more.

Just like I don't care for any proprietary technology.

I will enjoy it while I have it, but more looking forward to seeing what DX12 will bring.

Though I can't say I notice that much difference swapping between dx11 and mantle on bf4 anyway...

+1

Just upgraded to a R9 280 from a 560ti, if mantle lives up to it's promise i may stay with AMD. We'll have to wait and see though.

I'd be surprised if it was just as simple as Intel making a driver lol.
Probably require a GPU to a certain specification.

Not at all.

Okay. We'll see, but it's a firm "No chance" from me of say my HD4600 working (In the same vein the 6XXX are simply incompatible.............)

EDIT : It'll be like the whole "sharing physx", where it'd have to be a specification that AMD would have had to adhere to (Assuming of course the times Gregg's listed the articles that they're actually true)
