The only person that is heralding the coming of Van Gaal as us sudden favourites is Sunama.

Everyone else is pretty much being sensible. Apart from Nick.
 
What makes him a genius in your eyes?

I think they will do better this year but that's mainly down to being out of the CL and of course getting rid of moyes ;)

If they get these targets they will have a good starting team but it gets a bit thin after that.

Moyes did the league a big favour last year and got rid of the fear factor about OT. Be interesting to see the pre-seasons to see how they line up.

If people want to discuss the great man, then it might be better to make a thread for it, as this one is for transfers (and is already in danger of becoming a club thread :eek: :p).
 
The good people of twitter are now linking us to Marco Reus, sadly I'm sure it's a load of *****, but would be made up if it turns out to be true.

Supposedly has a £40/€40m release clause.
 
Lvg is clearly an authoritative figure. He also sets up to get results not necessarily play beautiful foitball. I suspect he will do the same at Utd. Especially early on to get the results in.

I just wish we'd clear out young and valencia. They are premiership players but not top 4.
 
Last year many united fans said they wanted good exciting football the 'manchester united way' and winning things then didn't matter. So LVG is going to not play beautiful football to get the results in?

Kinda making you "hard to beat" ;)

I question his relevance in recent years for the United job. I also think this year we will see last years claim that it's not about winning things. I give him 18 months tops. At the very least you are having a good clear out.

I'm a big advocate of playing attractive football and having a proper go at teams, i'll never condone sticking 11 players behind the ball and hoping for a lucky goal.

But that's probably why I'm an electronic engineer and LvG is a decorated manager. :p

I think what the rumour is, is that we will pay more then he would go for with his clause so Dortmund have a decision to make. Make more now or lose him for less next summer.

I think he would be am excellent signing...can't see it though.

Couple that with Liverpool losing by far and away their best player and having brought in nothing of note we are doubly happy.

Getting a decent Netherlands team to 3rd place isnt that big a deal when for the most part the WC has been average.

Apart from that opening game vs Spain ( where Spain were bad rather than unlucky) and two knockout games where both teams were equally terrible and couldnt score for love nor money until the pens, it just proves how lucky they were as a team not how good ( or not) a manager he is

That isn't a decent Netherlands team and there were plenty of good teams in the WC. You can't use Brazil as an example of the quality of the competition.
