According to Dutch media van Gaal asked Robben if he would be interested in a transfer to United. He said no.

Apparently this is a fake quote, surprised Sky have picked it up.

Nothing wrong with Robben as long as the fee is right.

I agree, but as above, he said he's staying at Bayern. I can't see that changing.

Sounds like Arsenal will get Khedira... he's best mates with Ozil so that will help swing it for them over Chelsea.

Our summer isn't going horrifically so far which is pleasant :p

Still need another CB a FB and two strikers but good so far. I'm shocked :p

Still in shock that we spent 12million on one player. Surely a Mike Ashley record??? We finally have an exiting winger!!

Daryl Janmaat seems all sent to sign on in a few days time also :D

Having a feeling they will settle on one striker and play Dejong in a more forward role.

Doesn't mean much PSG have until next year to meet the FFP requirements

Everyone seems convinced Janmaat is flying to Newcastle today for a medical. Debuchy to Arsenal will no doubt be announced once that is all tied up.

Signing a replacement before he has left. I like dis.

It seems they might be trying to sell Cavani so they can buy Di Maria.

Sky Sources: Edinson Cavani asks agent to investigate potential move to Premier League.

We've been the only reported interested party, and Chelsea a long time ago.

Khedira would be an upgrade on Flamini and Arteta, but he's more attacking than defensive and it feels a bit of a risk to go for a guy who missed half of the last season with a big knee injury.

But he adds to a massively over bloated midfield when we lack starting fullbacks of any quality, enough cover at CB, or a top striker.

If we did get him I think we need to get rid of, well Diaby regardless of if we bought anyone, but with Sanchez/Khedira, we should be getting shot of Rosicky and probably Santi.

We need new fullbacks but not sure how we can get rid of the few home grown players we do have. Our only options are realistically buying home grown when we can or actually, eventually giving some of our promising youngsters a real shot, something we don't know now at all.

A line up of Podolski, Wilshire, Ramsey, Khedira, Sanchez across midfield is pretty epic.

Walcott is mostly gash, Giroud is pants but there is loads of goals from midfield there. Podolski though always seemed to not be first choice under Wenger despite a great record. For club and country in only 24 starts he has 18 goals and 8 assists. I'm not sure he'd work great as a lone striker, and if he did so then maybe we move to Walcott/Sanchez on the wings and that might work better than with Giroud upfront.

But the complete lack of cover in defence is worrying. Gibbs is usually a sick note, basically never managing the number of games he did this season before. Kos/Mert went almost uninjured, Verm is constantly injured. With or without Khedira we can't do what Wenger usually does, which is pray we don't have a problem then attempt an emergency fix say in Jan or on August the 30th when it turns out we lose someone for the season or whatever. Get some cover BEFORE we need it, and rotate the damn players a bit to both give the back up some form if required and also reduce the chance of injury in the first place.

DM - I really question your knowledge of football and where you get your ideas from.

Have to completely disagree with getting shot of Rosicky. He's a brilliant player who always gives it his all in the match no matter what the scoreline is. A great asset to the club and I would be sad to see him go. Santi didn't have a great season last year but he was immense the season before so I'd like to keep him but wouldn't mind letting him go if it was to pave the way for something else as he will probably be playing second fiddle next season and with a player of that quality, it's sad to see him on the bench.

I will agree with you on the lack of cover in defence. We need a new CB for cover and desperately need an RB as Jenkinson is not quite up to scratch for us yet but I think he could be, he was pretty impressive from what I saw albeit not a huge amount in the England U21s.

Not sure what you have against Gibbs because he's a quality left back that you seem to be blind to and even then, we have Monreal for cover and Vermaelen is perfectly capable at LB.

I'm not even going to comment on your Walcott, Giroud & Poldi statements because it's just grade A baloney.

I was absolutely pumped for the idea of signing Khedira - but I've recently stumbled across a whole assload of statistics that say Bender would be the much better fit, and is in fact far more of a complete midfielder. Now I'm feeling a little bit dubious about the whole thing especially if we are looking at a salary of 100k or more. I also agree with what DM said about adding to our overly crowded midfield ranks.

I think that we need to lose either Flamini or Arteta realistically, while keeping the other as a back up. I'd say we could look at shipping out Rosicky too but given we just signed him to a two year extension I can't see him going anywhere. Diaby needs to go - even if we just pay out his contract and send him on his way. I don't see where Cazorla or Oxland-Chamberlain are going to fit into things other than as back-ups for the first team.

Hoping that the Debuchy signing follows soon - that will address the problem of a first choice right back. In an ideal world we would look at a new left back also - but I can't really think of anybody that would be available without breaking the bank.

IF Utd are really interested in Cavani and there is a snag at PSG, every report Ive read so far mentions Rooney going the other way - so if Cavani only cost ~30m then it wouldnt be so bad (although personally Im not so positive about the deal in the 1st place).

I cant see RvP, Rooney and Cavani all being kept happy (especially if you want to include Mata behind the striker) - none of those are actually comfy playing wide and Cavani isnt happy playing wide in Paris so there would be some assurancesi if the deal goes through
