Hi guys.

Here is the situation. I have one Samsung 250GB EVO SSD currently which I use solely for my OS and also have BF4 installed on it. I have 3 meaty HDDs, one I use for games only and has my Steam Library on it. Another for my own media like picures, music, movies and the third drive I use for all my downloads.

I see the 250GB samsung EVO is on offer today and my question relates specifically to this new drive and my game drive on HDD. Can I purchase this SSD and move the whole of my contents from my HDD to my SSD including all the Steam Library? will all my games function properly by just copying and pasting?

Steam mover is useful when you have just a few games in your library on an SSD, but in this case I believe it's much simpler.

Seeing as you're wanting to move ALL of your games and your ENTIRE steam library, you can literally just cut and paste the steam files from Program Files/Steam to wherever you want them (in this case your new SSD).

That is, assuming I'm right, that you want to move everything to the SSD, rather than select games.

yes I want to move everything from my HDD Game drive which includes 10 or so games installed from disc and also 20 or so Steam games, to a new SSD. Was just wondering if it would be a simple case of copying everything from the HDD and pasting it straight to the new SSD.

Well, I haven't done it myself, but if the link in my previous post is anything to go by it should be as easy as that.

You just need to delete some steam directories which it'll rebuild automatically in the new location.

Clone the drive over

pretty much , make the new steam folder first on the new drive , close steam , copy files across then re-verify them and it should pick them up.

You can literally copy / paste everything from one to the other. I have done this many times.

copy paste, and make sure to change the driver letter to be the HDD one, then, as long as you havent run it while copying, it shouldnt even notice.

Or just clone it, or back up the disk, then restore it to the ssd
