Yes, Ronaldo, Bale played as a striker more often than Ronaldo last year. Ronaldo plays wide left almost every game. Di Maria mostly played similar position but on the right till Bale started playing, he plays more centrally in the second half of last season. One of the reasons Isco played less as the season went on.

Don't know why Real class him as a forward, well, not unless you class Bale and pretty much Di Maria the same way, they all play fairly similarly in terms of where they start(or prefer to), style of attacking play(running at the defence and cutting into the middle).

Likewise I really wouldn't start Ronaldo or Bale as a striker in the middle unless injury forces it, they are both better starting from midfield and driving forwards.

For any Spurs fans, we've just taken Alex Pritchard on a season long loan. He excelled in the Next Gen Series - which was founded by our manager and owner - and had a great season at Swindon last season. We've now got two of the three shortlisted L1 POTY last season!

He's a great young technical player - see here - and is following a similar path to that of Andros Townsend.

They have a ridiculously large number of top midfielders

Khediera
Modric
Alonso
Isco
Kroos
Di Maria
Bale
Illaramendi

Bar stewards. Share the wealth!

Difference is there is a difference in AM and CM. By CM only Modric Kroos Kheidra Alonso illaramendi count. Two offensive two defensive for a four man rotation is all they need though.

Shocking how many they have though who can keep four world class players happy? Bayern cannot even do it so is Kheidra and Alonso leaving? I get the feeling the plan is Illramendi anchoring Kroos and Modric with Bale XXX Ronaldo up front.

Surely with Kroos going, that leaves a nice exit door for Kheidra to Arsenal?

How much was Kroos? I know it's an undisclosed fee, but ballpark?

He will probably still be as mobile as last season. All the more reason and pressure for a top dog CM destroyer like Vidal. I am liking this season more and more.

Also looks like United sent RVP to haggle over Vermalaen. How much again? Or maybe Vermalaen is admiring RVP's wages? :D

Ok.

If Carrick is out for a number of months (currently unclear) then the need for a central midfielder is even greater now, Carrick isn't mobile but he can pass the ball quite well at times. Herrera can replace him and will almost certainly be a lot better, but that means we're looking at Cleverley, Fellaini or Anderson next to him which isn't going to be acceptable. Sure, there's Fletcher but I think it would be best if he left. :(

He might try and pluck someone out of the academy etc but there aren't any true stand out central midfield candidates there, our last one from there is now at Juventus.

Edit: does appear Carrick is out for 10 weeks, quite a while...

Wage/contract difference will be absolutely massive. Fee isn't everything.

Ok.

You forgot to add 'English international being sold to English club, +£7.5m. Club recently sold player for large amount of cash, +£2.5m'

LvG stating that there will be a break in signings whilst he assesses the squad.

I have to admit that I think a DM might still be a priority with Carrick's injury though.

Ok.

Not really that keen on the signing but one in the last year of his contract, €30=£20?
One plays in a team with much better players making it far more likely he'll get assists (club and nationally).
Also listing honours, might as well compare Bale's honours with phil neville.

Official statement on Carrick:

Manchester United ‏@ManUtd
BREAKING: Michael Carrick has had surgery this morning on his left ankle ligaments and will be out for 10-12 weeks

So he's out for 3 months.
