*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

PSN isn't the best - but I think there is very little out there that can cope with so many people all going at it at once.

Websites crash constantly at times like this - and even look at real life situations. Infrastructure is never designed - no matter what it is - to cope with a rapid influx of people using it.

I'm not sure if it's just bad design, poor planning etc - or is it simply that 99% of the time it's not required to cope with such demand, and so it's seen as a logical way to cut back and not 'over-design'.

Either way - I don't care if the network crashes at times like this - I've got more than enough to be doing that I just come back later. However, what is more concerning is the general downtime for routine updates and maintenance IMO.
Doesn't affect me either but I think for those who game as their main hobby that could get frustrating as I hear it happens a lot.

I think most people go with CDkeys and use the extra 5% off code from liking their facebook page.

Cheers mate will check them out.

Does the USA code work with EU PSN? They've got one on there for £27.99 but it says USA, will this work on a UK PS4?

CD Keys seems to be the constant - then just look out for any other deals elsewhere.

Right now, Very do something like £30 off first order if you open a credit account - which you can pay instantly as you order then close. Makes it around £26 - but you'd have to order 2 to get the money off - or some PSN credit.
But they stack so last time I just bought 2 to get 24 months worth

i'd be interested to see the traffic figures for PSN comparable to xlive considering just how many more PS4 systems are being sold in comparison to Xbox one.

The load with the launch of Destiny mustve been huge. I skipped it last night, I'm downloading the game now and had zero issues with speed and login, its 30% completed and its seems to be zipping along nicely.

but agree, its frustrating when PSN goes down.. and it does seem to be more frequent then live.

I've not tested this to check yet, but when I dropped out of the destiny install to watch a DVD, instead of closing Destiny it said "suspending application". Is this normal or specific to Destiny? I've not noticed it do this before.

It does that if you try to upload or edit captured footage while in-game too.

It's very annoying how often PSN is down for maintenance. They could get away with it when it was free but now you basically HAVE to pay for it it's a joke. It's especially annoying that they plan it so it doesn't affect people in Japan or the US but it always hits us at peak times.
