If we are in for Remy then I think we have to get another striker too. I just don't see Remy as a front line striker for us, he can play alongside Sturridge or wide but I just don't see him playing in place of him.
 
Pleased for Borini. Never thought he was good enough for Liverpool or suited to our style of football but a decent run of games should see a good return for Sunderland.

Offload Allen and we'll be looking at a decent summer.
 
How odd, all the news about Vidal to United and lucas is adamant nothing is happening.

Now it's gone quiet he's folded like a cheap deckchair.

Something I'm not privy to here? :D
 
Borini was quality for Roma. Shame he didn't work out.

I do like this trend through. Player does well for Roma for 1/2 seasons. He is sold for 'big' money. He flops massively.

See Lamela, Borini, Osvaldo, Stekelenburg, Menez, Doni (?), Riise (?), Pizarro etc.

Roma really want Shaqiri. Don't see him joining tbh, even more after Roma signed Iturbe for 22.8M.

If he does, Totti, Destro, Gervinho, Florenzi, Iturbe, Shaqiri will be undoubtedly the best striking force in Italy and one of the better ones in Europe.

The current situation is:

  • Man Utd are telling the UK press they aren't interested in him, James Ducker said earlier it's quite possible (even likely) the club are lying to them - denied any interest in Mata right before it was announced
  • Vidal himself has implied he's aware of our interest and his agent is sorting it out, and he'll "see what happens"
  • Italian and Chilean media are both adamant we're negotiating for him, saying if we offer €50m (what Juve want), he's ours
  • Beppe Marotta said they'd never "put him up for sale" and that as far as he knows Vidal is happy at the club
  • Juventus are also making a few signings and they'll need to sell to fund them
  • Van Gaal has said in the past that he rates him very highly and tried to sign him before

Combine all these things and you've got a transfer saga. Now we wait for the next twist...
 
Well yesterday LvG came and said that signings would be on hold whilst he assesses the squad. But given DM is our worst position, along with Carrick's injury would lead me to think he would break that rule for Vidal.

I just expect we'll be waiting until next month for a CB/winger.

I think that's a standard answer as he doesn't want to be bombarded with transfer questions (though I don't think the guys in the room dared to ask :D).

He'll realise quicker than anyone that there's a huge problem in midfield and he'll want that sorting out, even more so now with Carrick injured as you say, our midfield looks even more awful than before.
 
Yeah, could be him too it seems. If you're prepared to stump up the mega wages it might happen?

Would need to be an insane offer though, he seems to like Real Madrid.
