Best PC games of the last 5 years?

Has anyone mentioned the Football Manager games. They always seem to be right up at the top of my hours played list, so they much be doing something right.

Wow! A lot of recommendations here... might keep me going for the next 5 years! Many thanks all. I've now got all 3 Bioshock games, Civ5, Witcher 1 & 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, FTl and Tomb Raider all sat on Steam waiting for me. My Wishlist is also looking a great deal healthier.

As an aside, there seems to be quite a lot of mention made of controllers. I've never really used one (don't own any consoles except a Wii). Do they make things that much easier? Should I look to invest?

A wired Xbox pad is a very handy bit of kit and just plugs right into windows with most games recognizing them straight away. I find them best for third person, driving and many 2d games (good luck playing super meat boy without one). Well worth it for how cheap they are.

Anything that requires precision is generally still best done with a mouse.

Dragon age origins,
mass effect series
The walking dead (telltale version)
The witcher series

All have strong characters and story, some of my fav games from the last few years.

That's a bad game to recommend to people though you could end up feeling guilty when they devote their life to it get a divorce and lose their job. :p

Top plays would have to include dark souls, fallout, walking dead, batman, tomb raider, borderlands, dragon age (but not the second one)

I can't see past Skyrim. Also, I think Dragon Age Origins is just about less than 5 years ago so that would be up there. I only really play RPGs and story-based games

Imo, the best 5 of the last 5 years, in order are:

Skyrim
Fallout New Vegas
Dishonored
Dragon Age:Origins
X-Com

Planetside 2 has deffinately got to be on that list.

Yeah, just no other game like it.

I've been playing since beta and moan and groan about balance issues etc but my oh my, there is NO other experience like it on any platform, especially when you are able to run it on high/ultra graphics.

Haven't played a lot of games this last five years, but the stand outs for me are:

Metal Gear Rising
Metro 2033
Borderlands 2 (minus DLC)
(Indy) Terraria - made in 3 months, apparently.
