Moral hazard. No insurer wants to be associated with liars/difficult people as the whole policy is based on giving the correct information.
 
Yeah Im just wondering under what circumstances this would come up.
Surely if the car was caught speeding or something but you said you didnt know who was driving youd be given a SP?
 
Some cars are just expensive to insure - in my experience many BMWs have fairly high insurance costs regardless of if they are one of the more basic models - i.e. my mate's 1997 E38 728i cost a couple of hundred more than his 2002 Merc CL500 which is a much more expensive and substantially faster car.

I also had to pay extra when temporarily changing my Mondeo mk4 Titanium TDCi for an E36 318i Touring stopgap which with 115hp didn't have the power to pull a skin off a rice pudding, nor get the tail out "accidentally" for that matter, and was worth 10 times less than the Mondeo.

To the end user/customer, the price just seems like its come from a random number generator, although I'm sure insurers have their experience to go by.

It most likely also don't help that BMW's seem to be one the favourite KEV cars now days...

MS90 can be an attempt to hide some of the worse convictions. It is also 6 points.
