Yeah they did but he is 22 and I don't know if that means they are pretty sure Hummels is leaving. I guess the only thing that Hummels may be thinking is that Dortmund are never likely to compete with Bayern going forwards so another club might be a better option for trophies.

Unless Roontang is leaving then I have no idea why we would pay the amount required to get Cavani. I don't think I particularly want him either for any more than £30m. Falcao is the better striker in my opinion any would cost a similar amount.

If we get Hummels I would be super excited and also surprised.

I quite like Cavani, I think he's got a lot more ability than he's shown at PSG. For Napoli he was excellent whenever I watched him. PSG have stuck him out wide and that's done him no good at all. He seems to be keen on a move to England so if we can get him on a cheap (ish) deal that would be good, but PSG won't let him go cheaply. I'm not sure what we'd do with him though, I wouldn't be against getting him as long as it didn't affect other targets.

We've also been linked a lot today with Cuadrado, I thought he was very good at the World Cup but he'd be a big gamble.

Hummels would be amazing but he'd cost £30m at the very least, likely a lot more.

Cuadrado had an excellent season for Fiorentina. He can (and did) play as a left mid as well as right mid. Although obviously the quality of the league isn't up there with the Prem it's no worse than a lot of the dross which is present in La Liga which people always rave about. Obviously there's no Barca or Real in Serie A but there's a lot of decent teams.

Cuadrado carried his good form into the WC. He's infinitely better than Valencia (the current version) and still better than Valencia was when he was half decent.

Brilliant player for us and deserves to play regularly at the highest level he can. Shame he wasn't here for a season to help shaw but can't blame him for leaving.

Great player who was in tune with the fans. Shame to see him go and wish him all the very best for his time at Juve

Of course he'll need to prove it, but assuming we're winning things, there's no reason we couldn't make big money signings. Just because we haven't in the past doesn't mean we don't plan to in future, especially as we're continuing to make more money.

If you believe the media, we offered €120m to stop Bale going to Real Madrid, but he had his heart set on it (which is obviously an issue).

Im pretty sure I just mentioned best players in the world and you just mentioned Gareth bale?

How about we look at the best footballers outside of Wales, say a few Germans? Or Spanish players who you know, are good enough to play for Spain. Or Argentina best players etc.

We don't have the best players in the premiership let alone europe or the world. The sentiment is lamentable.

Trying to buy cudrado et al is not trying to buy the best at all. Neither is luke shaw, or the spaniard, nor is Fellaini etc.

Anyone seen anything remotely believable about a certain WC winning German centre - half?

Lots of reports originating from the Spanish "Sport" paper stating a deal is done for £16m, but even double that would be a steal so thats in the completely ficticious pile for me ( unless Kagawa is going the other way?).

Not sure how good Sport are usually, but seems a little left field for them to get the scoop for a German BL player potentially moving to the EPL.

It's rubbish. I think he is a target of ours but it'll require £40m+ to get him.

Woodward has just left the tour on "business", unplanned...!

I was kind of hoping that the Evra to Juve deal had greased them up enough for the Vidal deal. I'm sure that some discussions have taken place at a high level and that there'll be some detail to flush out.

As always I think it'll depend on Juve's asking price and whether United want to overpay slightly. I mean we did for Fellaini so what is an extra 5m over 'market' value anyway for the best box to box in the world? Market value is just whatever somebody is willing to pay anyway. In footballing terms I think the prices being quoted for King Arthur are about right tbh. You#ll get 4-5 years out of him at his peak. I guess the only stumbling block would be that he won't be worth that much to sell on at the end of his contract but if he's performing there's no reason why he couldn't stay on beyond. Alas getting ahead of myself.

I still think the Vidal one has some legs on it. There's ZERO chance (IMO) of him or his agent going to Juve and saying "I want to leave". He really likes the club and appreciates them so I think the only realistic way to get him out is to pay what they're asking (or negotiate directly with them). If Juve agree to sell then by the looks of it the move will then become a formality. Clubs will generally always agree a deal in principle with a players agent before approaching a club anyway. I mean even with the Fabregas stuff last year you can bet a deal (financial) was agreed with his agent it was just up to United to get Barcelona to accept a bid. The acceptance of that bid then triggers the player to move as it says implicitly that he isn't required anymore.

I'll be happy for us to pay whatever it takes to get him, if the club want to guarantee a place in the top four next season then we're going to need Vidal and probably someone else like Hummels too. Otherwise, we've got to hope the players all take to LvG and his methods and everything goes more or less perfectly - risky.

LvG should have a press conference before or after the game on Thursday, so hopefully someone will have the balls to ask him. I don't expect him to say an awful lot but he might give something away...

I'm just eager to see some movement, we still need another 3/4 players really minimum. We currently have one first team left back, one first team right back and three centre backs.

I haven't even seen us linked with any full backs, maybe it's going to come out of nowhere.
