Thinking of adding another 8GB for Photos etc, will this effect any games?
Games I'm playing

Titanfall
Blackops 2
Ghost
Rivals
Watchdogs
Wolfenstein TNO
etc...Thanks

You will be fine with 16gb of ram for playing games. It wont break anything unless the ram is dodgy or mismatched, it wont make a blind bit of difference to the performance of any game right now.

yep, all it does is mean you never have to worry about not having enough. admittedly there's been very few situations i've reached over 8gb of usage but its nice to know the rest is there

I remember using Photoshop a couple of years back it was reaching around 7GB.
I want to get back into it.

I have 8GB and are getting by just fine although admittedly I don't have any of the games the OP listed above.

I am a bit behind the times, so is 16GB the new standard for gamers these days then ?

As far as I am aware it is overkill for most people. My PC is not cutting edge but it manages to max out everything I play with just 8gb of memory.

It's more to do with the price for RAM getting cheaper, or better deals.

16GB is fairly well priced now, so makes sense to get more than 8gb for just a little extra.

No 8GB is fine. I want to stop drinking and get back in to photo editing, my system died killing 4 out of 10 drives (only 6 connected) so I brought a new SSD (512) 4790 & hero MB. The week before I brought a Benw 144mhz monitor.
So its annoying. Spent £1000 of her money. But she's due 2k in overtime..Oh wait:eek: shes behine me, isn't she:eek:

Never had any problems with 16GB of RAM but if it did become a problem you could always use msconfig to temporarily limit the amount of RAM Windows works with so that it appears to applications as if you have less than 16GB.

That didn't work with a favorite game of mine. Art of War. I loved that game.
But good idea. Thanks.

I have 16gb, not because I needed the extra RAM but because it was ridiculously cheap. I don't think I get more than 6gb usage but then again I got 16gb of Hyper X blue for £50.
