Better late than never, they came this morning.

Cut off the plastic/rubber coating about 6-7mm back:

What are you using the connector for??

I bought a starter kit, but struggling to find a small enough power source as its for under my kitchen cabinets.

I've just been mapping my kit together, the connector is used if you cut the wire to a certain length, You'll see certain points which you can cut, that cable is used to link the cut Led strip to the power supply. Haven't found any smaller power supplies, but you can buy 5050 extensions which might help you move the power supply further away.

For my 9 year old son who doesn't know yet but come tomorrow evening he will

Still need the karting gear, possibly a Ferrari sticker kit (he supports Alonso in F1 must to my annoyance) and trolley and then maybe something similar in adult size + a trailer :D
Awesome we need more pics!!

The normal size you buy in is 5m off the bay. 1 full 5 metre strip that can be cut every 3 LEDs or so. So you don't specifically need those connectors to add them together, you only need them if you are cutting the strip and reusing the cut off bit.

they connect to that ir receiver thing??

£124.00, was the best price I could find, place I bought if from price matched it as it was out of stock at the first place, and I got free delivery. It's supposed to be a great all weather bag as it's waterproof. I wasn't too sure if it would weigh more than the old bag but it's much much lighter.

Nice :)

So where do the cables come from?

I assumed these connectors were for having LED strip -> cable -> LED strip -> cable ... and so on

Am I right?

eBay, I think they're £10.99 now though. Search for 5050 RGB LED, and yes you're right. It's to allow for easier positioning/tight turns.

Since theres a theme of showing off your wood, here's mine. I don't want to brag but I think I've got the biggest wood  :p

Aha sorry, I meant once you've cut the LED strip once and put it into a connector, say you want to have no LEDs for the next 30cm (or whatever distance) then carry on again, where are those cables that will be in 30cm gap?

If that makes sense... lol

I guess you could just get some 18/20 gauge cable and extend it easily enough. Simply a case of cutting one of the connectors in half and splicing them together.
