4k Gaming monitors worth it ?

1 290 probably about 35/40 FPS, 2 I would says 75fps average in bf4 with AA off, as above my 2X290x's pull 80/90 depending on the map (stock).

Yeah all Ultra no AA, cant even see it when added 3 inches away from the screen

That's tempting, always played on 60 fps so if that would be obtainable with a couple of pretty cheap cards I'd be rather happy.

I turn my FPS from 80/90 down to 60 to save on temps, this then means my GPUS are at about 70% load, as long as you have 2 4GB cards you'll be well over 60fps

Well, I am a bit of a resolution junkie so I think you have me sold. Going to be an expensive few months for me, that's the trouble when you don't upgrade as you go. You end up having to upgrade everything all at once!

There are a lot of settings you can turn down in BF4 that wont hurt the image quality to much but give good performance gains. Stuff like Ambient Occlusion is one i turn off no matter what as i hate that effect and its also a resource hog at times. Post processing is usually turned down as well while keeping the rest at high or ultra.

Why do you hate ambient occlusion? It's a legitimate effect when it comes to making scenes look more realistic.

I hate it because most of the time its not done right. Sure some of the scenery gets enhanced in a some what cool way but a lot of the times its totally off for characters and weapons by having a weird black shadowy effect around it. Besides for me personally it doesnt add enough to the image to make up for the performance hit. This is ofcourse when we are talking Multiplayer, if we are talking single player i would want as much eye candy as possible(that makes sense performance wise) which even means AO if its done good enough.

I'm loving Borderlands 2 at 4K. Upping the resolution made little difference to Starcraft 2, though.

Borderlands 2 looks so beautiful at a higher res. Just got my new 3440x1440 ultra wide screen yesterday and that was one of the first games I tried on it. The art style really is one of my favourites and at that res it looks stunning.
