Who is your favourite rap/hip-hop artist and why? Maybe include your top 3 favourite songs or album. Please don't turn this into a 2pac vs Biggie debate haha.

Artist - Eminem
Why? - Well, because he's a Rap God.
Best Album - MMLP

I could not possibly pick a favourite song, but if I had to pick a top 3 at random then it would be:

1 - Stan
2 - Drug Ballad
3 - I'm Back
 
Andre Benjamin - Mainly for Outkast's 2nd and 3rd Albums (ATLiens and Aquemini) and some of the stuff on The Love Below. None of that gangsta **** here :)

Personally, I think that while Eminem is great at what he does (or did), I can't listen to all the angry, shouty stuff...

Tough to name just one as tastes change over time, but MF Doom, Mac Lethal and Cunninlynguists are consistently good. So based on that...

Artist - Kno
Why? - best producer bar none
Best Album - White Albulum (A Piece of Strange being a close second)

Modern Rap Artist

Artist - Immortal Technique
Why? - The guy is a lyrical genius and doesn't use stupid analogies. He raps educational/political messages in his music. Controls his own production and hasn't sold himself to labels.
Best Album - All of them. Been waiting donkey's years for Middle Passage. "The Martyr" album he made free to download from viper records.

Artist - Q-Tip
Why? - Obviously for most of his ATCQ work, but I'm a huge fan of his solo work, and for me it crosses nicely into something I can also put on to relax to.
Best Album - The Renaissance
 
Don't mind eminem when he either does his 'micky take' songs or has a female singer with him, the 2 rihanna duets work really well for example.

Enjoy the stupidity of lmfao (they split due to creative differences) or as it is now red foo, the other one went in another direction which didn't really work.

I can listen to lil jon, ja rule and I don't mind young money (made up of loads of individual artists). And how can I forget busta rhymes.

However we all seem to be forgetting some of the best female rappers like missy elliott, don't think I've heard a song from her that I didn't like....

edit: can we include like jason derulo and pitbull?... I don't mind them either

why? because even though he was probably no greater than the other rap greats he was 'the realest' of them . never pretended to be that someone else who people wanted him to be.

theres a fair few rappers i find technically or lyrically better but none of them have what ODB had.

You only get a pass for mentioning Busta :p The rest really should see you suspended at the least...
