Guys thanks for the input but it's really starting to derail and go off topic. Going to look a 1.4T Elegance and a 1.8T Elegance tonight. These two:

No, they should have face-lifted the 1st one twice and sold it until 2008. Why change something that works
OP, still think the MK6 Golf 1.4TSI GT is worth a look.
OP both Octavias look ok, but I'd personally avoid black, silver or cars with DSG unless you plan to run it with an extended manufacturer warranty (or keep say £2k in the bank as a just incase).
The colours because you absolutely will be confused with taxi's and the gearbox because I still do not trust the DSG box, too many reported failures (in saying that maybe the newer box is better).
Another thing I'd say is that trim can really lift the octavia's interior (I know this is slightly contradictory,as it darkens the interior but it makes it look better imo), the silver looks pretty cheap but I'm sure i've seen cars with piano black inserts. Leather really helps too but you mat struggle with the trim level.
Don't think your 1.4 is twin charged (r.e the post above) but have a read up, as they certainly don't have a great reputation

When I made that thread I wanted to spend a few hundred quid on a car, but I could have spent a few grand on one, it just isnt necessary for me right now. And can wait until next year.

Please quote where I stated the above? I can't afford one? You don't know my income, or anything else about me. I can afford to run a run of the mill hatchback and a CTR.... so I think I could afford to run one Audi if I so chose?
