Ryse: Son Of Rome. PC

wasn't this renowned for being great to look at and horrible to play?? Thought it flopped on Xbone
Crytek are desperate for cash, plus the leadership blames the poor sales on the small xbone install base. Obviously it couldn't be due to the Crytek management having no idea what makes a good game

Hmm... well I suppose it's worth checking out. Won't buy at release though especially since I can see it being £40/50.

Has anyone played this on XB1? Is there any kind of gladiatorial arena type combat? Really would love to play a game like Shadow of Rome again :D

Read the Eurogamer review and Crytek didn't come off to well, shame really as I've really enjoyed some of their games and thought Crysis 3 on PC was great (I'm in a minority I know!)

Just bought a used copy of Ryse for my Xbone which arrived today, bought it before I heard the news of a PC version coming, oh well

Got to be said it's not looking good for Xbone atm :(

Am I right in thinking both of their Day 1 exclusives are on PC now? (Dead Rising 3, Ryse) or are there more?

I want to hope for more but I have a feeling we only got Ryse because Crytek is in trouble.

It annoys me that M$ don't take advantage of their access to the Windows PC market and start releasing games like Halo. There is clearly a large market for it, more than there is for the Xbox 1 anyway.

Ignore the BS press release, this is a cash-grab move... Not that I have any problem with cash grabbing as making money is the goal of most businesses... I think the average PC gamer is probably too discerning to buy this though.

You're right it is a "button basher" my hands were actually aching after playing for the first time last night!

“We are bringing the Ryse experience to PC, with 4K resolution support. 4K gaming is another leap in graphics quality for PC gamers and Ryse is the perfect showcase for what’s now possible in high-end PC games"

Sounds like they are bored with the XBOX1 limitations already.

They can bring these console ports to the PC with 4k support, but it wont improve the gameplay. Why bother

I'll wait till steam sells it for less than a fiver.

Serves them right for making a xbone exclusive.

I'll leave this here
Wow. Just... wow. That guy doesn't know what 'linear' means.

'You can move left AND right! You can fight these guys in any order! It's not linear!'. 'It's not a QTE! It's a minigame where you press a button to get a bonus!'.

Plus his line at the end about there being 100+ executions is BS. There's about 30 at most.

I had ths game on launch of the XB1. If you've never played it, avoid. It's dull, repetitive and brings nothing new. The only things it has going for it is the graphics and it's pretty short.

The entire game is basically that video, but repeated for around 3 hours. The greatest soldier Rome ever saw, with most ineffective sword ever. If you're really bored and find a fiver in your jeans, then by all means give it a go, but don't expect it to be anything amazing.

Its actually not a bad game, I never understood the reviews Its just like any other action fighting game like God of War or Ninja Gaiden, yes its fairly repetitive but what do you expect your killing people with swords.

Its very pretty and I really enjoyed my first play though, my second play through on the hardest settings turned into a check point repeating nightmare (just like ninja gaiden) but was a challenge.

Ok the "history" is total BS but hacking off peoples limbs and heads never really gets old and the COOP gladiator thing is a good laugh with a mate. I paid full XBOX One Digital rip off price and I was happy enough, as a PC game at a lower price point if you like action hack em ups you cant really go wrong and turned up to 11 on PC it will look even better.

I agree with all this, I thought the game was enjoyable enough. I think most games are repetitive, look at any MMO or FPS game. I think this got such bad reviews were because it was the Xbox one launch title. If it came out now I don't think the reviews would be so harsh.

it's like most games actually, opinions differ!! :p

typical Crytec game, looks good and thats about it. no thanks

I think that's a little bit harsh, I loved the original Crysis and I must be one of the only people here who enjoyed it even more AFTER the aliens showed up. Crysis 2 was also pretty good fun, haven't played 3 so I can't comment. Haven't actually played Warhead or any of their other games though I do have the F2P shooter Warface installed in my Steam library.

Crysis, was and is a fantastic game.

I still don't understand how they managed to **** up both sequels quite so badly.

Ryse looks like very pretty, but has almost Atari 2600 movie tie in levels of game play.
