I've got the X52....I'd love to know what these issues are, as I find it amazing......maybe hardcore flight sim critques might find issues, but I can sit on conflict zones tearing up small fighters in my Sidewinder with ease, purely because the controls with my X52 is so fluid.....lights off with all the blue glowing lights and volume turned up is pretty special!

this +1, no probs here, loving my x52 pro

Ok, getting fed up with this.

Just lost my second Cobra MK3 in a head-on with a Side Winder.

No option to re-buy the ship despite having enough for the insurance premium.
I've raised a ticket, but I'm not re-grinding another until this is resolved.

I just tried it for a few mins for the first time. Only had a few mins but it's really quite impressive isn't it. I should get some more time tomorrow and will also replace the mouse with an old X45 I have somewhere. It seemed to run surprisingly well on a Q9450 at stock speed although this was in the first combat mission rather than online.

Guys its beta chill! ;)

I aint got it because I dont want burnout! Elite is not a game to be taken lightly. :p

Time and patience on release.... :)

Getting to grips with the super cruise and whatnot now, but finding the limitations of my keyboard's simultaneous inputs to be frustrating - might have to dig out the joystick...

With regards to grinding and giving up, everything will be wiped before the game is released anyway from what I've heard.

Finally traded my way to the Lakon 9. It's slow but makes some great money!

Every Lakon 9 I've seen so far hangs around in the docking ports at Chango and Aulin splatting people as they try and enter. That thing is an absolute behemoth. They really need to look at this as its griefing of the lamest degree.

Using it for its true purpose 440 cargo must mean you can make some serious credits doing even simple trade runs. I can make 11k per run doing fish/agri meds between I-Bootis>Aulin in a basic hauler. Doing the same run in a type 9 would net you around 300k per run. Not bad for 1 jump ^-^

I noticed on official page it mentioned something like 4 billion systems, I presume that doesn't mean there is that much in game full of random stuff? If it does then that's mad.

The trouble with docking the Lakon 9 is that 9 times out of 10 you are allocated a landing pad that is just inside the station entrance, which means you have to go in super slow and spend some time looking around to make sure it's not further up the station. This is complicated by the fact that you can't easily see the numbers of the pads that they are making you land on.

As to trading, I don't have enough cash to fill it with high value goods but even then I'm making 600000ish in a 1 jump round trip.

I know, they are horrendous to fly and I do see a lot of people getting squished, despite my best efforts. As for money, I make 1.1 - 1.4m (depending on market fluctuations) per 20 min round trip.

Yes it does. They used an algorithm, like in the original Elite, to generate an entire universe. It means the possibilities are endless. They've modified the core systems to avoid any blips or unfair advantages, but beyond that even the developers don't know what's out there. You could find a planet with so much gold that they sell it for a couple of credits a ton... who knows!

400 billion. They've modelled our entire galaxy -- most of it is procedurally generated, and most of it won't have anything particularly interesting in (and, indeed, most of it we'll never see). The area we're likely to be able to explore is in the region of 100,000 systems which are also procedurally generated, but where we know about a star or exoplanet, they should be there in game. So if you go visit Sol in the game, you'll see a very familiar night sky.

We don't yet know what there'll be to see or do, but their intent is to make exploration a viable career, so there should be plenty of interest. Some content will be seeded by the devs (e.g. we might be able to find a ship graveyard or some interesting natural phenomenon) but most will be generated procedurally. Even the devs won't know what's there in a lot of cases!

That sounds great, as long as there is a lot of variety in what you can find, it would also be nice? knowing that there may be stuff you simply won't ever find even if it can exist.
I'm not really feeling the Beta so far but I feel this is due to control schemes and me not understanding what I'm doing. Having a Youtube night tonight to learn. I'm on the list for EDtracker and I'm still toying with a joystick idea.
It's the exploration that intrigues me the most.

You do know that the radar switches to targeting your designated pad as soon as you are through the airlock right?

I didn't know that either ^-^

Just been on the phone to the company I ordered the X-55 from. I took the day off work yesterday to take delivery and paid for the thing last Wednesday. Well no surprises the thing didn't arrive and it hasn't even been sent :(( Speaking to their manager she assures me it will be sent today and there is definitely 1 allocated to me but I'm not holding up my hopes. I got a steal of a price too at 149.99 so I really don't want to tell them to stuff it

WOW, a game that is hard and i am struggling with AT LAST.

The scenario where you have to run cold to kill the 3 fighters is proving tricky for me atm. In solo play I managed to dock every time :) but lost out on my profit after getting blown sky high by a mission that was bigger than i could chew. I overshoot on super-cruise every time and why cant i start in SOL

Ed-tracker should be built tomorrow and as i lazy got ripped off by maplins on the USB cable.

The Thrustmaster HOTAS X is superb for the money, I'd highly recommend it.
Makes it much more fun to fly, and shouldn't break the bank at around £40.

The default assignments aren't ideal for it in E : D, as you should have the thrusters assigned to the joystick HAT for maneuvering / combat.
It's an easy thing to change in the in-game control settings though.
