I really don't like the atmospheric flight model in this game :( Just can't get to grips with it at all... I do like everything else though :)

Still bugging me this whole atmospheric flight style in space, its just not needed when their is little to no drag and makes it cumbersome if you don't have a stick I think.

It's flight assist run by the on-board computer. You can turn it off and have a newtonian flight model.

Nope its the whole roll and pull up / down that bugs me. In space, there is no drag so no need to have it act like atmospheric flight, I miss the Frontier style approach (without the full Newtonian though).

I have always said to myself there isn't going to be enough time to have both these epic games, so just really decided on star citizen.....but boy oh boy ED really is making it hard for me.

I'm heavily invested into SC as well and in about 2 years time I believe it will be one of the best games ever created, but I bought Elite on the weekend, now that its down to £50 and what a great purchase it was.....I had so much fun it completely ate my weekend up!

I still think Star Citizen will be the better experience when both games are finished, but for now this is a great game!

Hrmm, don't fill up your Cobra's cargo bays then go for a quick frap about to see what your new gimbal-mounted lasers and multi-cannons can do before rushing back to the dock because you need to go to work. Especially when your CR fall a couple of grand short of the insurance. Just sayin' :o:D
I'm sure me and Sidewinder #2 will get along just fine...

I hope a new joystick comes out, none of the current options are perfect (nothing is I know), the X52 for it's documented issues, X55, squeaking which can be fixed, seems far too light and I can see the base moving about with heavy stick movement.
Warthog is out the question for the price. Basically I'd like an X55 with more weight and I thought those switches were toggles not neutral ones that reset back to the middle. After reading the thread on RSI from the guy who got it early it just sounds like a cheap plastic toy.

Was trying to fly into a space station last night, although clearly not in the right place and it was really hard trying to manoeuvre in because the station was spinning and I seemed to be going backwards instead of forwards. Plus the ship was constantly rotating to one side.

Made a few vids last night of us messing about but sadly the ATI "Raptr" recording software has picked up on the teamspeak chatter from those on which includes swearing so I can't post them here lol

I really need to get Mirilis action ASAP! :)

I'm playing with my trusty Logitech Extreme 3dPro and it's doing a sterling job. I don't feel the itch to upgrade.

Only thing I feel I'm missing is an analog hat :(

If I could find a joystick with a simple thrust slider and an analog hat I'd be happy.

Better still, a standalone thrust lever with an analog hat!

Hang on, Elite: Dangerous doesn't have the proper Newtonian physics? What's the point in an Elite game if it doesn't have that?

Playing with a original X55 seems to work really well, had to do a clean install though, been sat in the cupboard for years. Still need the keyboard and mouse though for interacting with stuff. Just orderd the bits for a ed tracker as well, to help with the awkward side menus.

It does, but limited:-
a) For gamplay mechanics.
b) For gameplay limitations.

For example, when not warping, ships have max speed limit. This is because:-
a) It makes combat far more interesting.
b) Prevent instance issues where one player speeds past another so fast it's hard for the game to keep them in/out of instances.

Ships turn better at certain speeds:-
a) This again, makes combat more interesting/varied.

But generally the ships adhere to Newtonian physics, and you can turn flight assist off and make full use of thrust in any/all directions if you so wish. Alternatively put flight assist on, and the ship will do its best to fly like a plane (on ice) :)

There is a revision to the X55? Never knew that.
