Fall of the Titan?

Of Course you did you have 4 Titans I have 1 290, my GPU cost £300 yours £3,000.

I don't get this obsession of yours that you must have 4 GTX Titans, I have one 290, I have the same visual game play experience, don't suffer from SLI microstutter and am £3,000 better off for it.

Another £300 for another 290 would give me the perfect 4K gaming.

All this seems to me trying to justify thousands of £ on GPU's where it makes no difference from a fraction of that cost, a

*foley with a purpose*.

He also has 4 290Xs.
So if there's anyones opinion to trust about running games maxed out, not working, not running correctly it's Kaap.

Nobody is trying to justify costs, infact only you bring up the costs. The costs are irrelevant and solely down to the purchaser whether it's 'worth' it.

Since for starters your fps are different and your lows are dipping to a point a lot wouldnt call acceptable(even without comparable settings) your not getting the same gaming experience as kaap for a fraction of the cost
You seem to be clutching at straws after your initial statement In the same way 4 290X Vapour-X 8GB could for a thousand £ less got shot down. End of the day Kaap and others have what they want to do what they want with just the same as you and if there happy with it good for them.

No it won't, it will give you gaming with lowered settings

I'm running Ultra IQ with just one. so two.....

As per Kaap's 4K threads he runs maxed out AA, at 4K, where that makes no visual difference. his 290X are also only 4GB cards

I agree what GPU's they like, and spend what they like, be it thousands or not, is down to them, it is not true that one must spend the same thousands on the same kit to get the same experience.

You have no idea what i use to game lol

Most of the time it is a single 290X or what ever the CF is set to at the time as that is all that is needed for Civ 5 @4K.

Having said that once you have seen 4 Titans running max settings at 4K you would take back your statements. The first thing you would notice is how smooth they are as using max settings gives the CPU a break and you don't get big dips or peaks in fps (the best way to describe it is like everything Mantle should be @4K but is not).

Some games will look rubbish whatever settings you use but this does not mean that all games look rubbish. I also find visually on my Dell 3011 and UP3214Q monitors image quality is top notch, what I find strange is people argue about settings and then game on a monitor with rubbish colours and image. My monitors are not the fastest response time but the colours and detail are superb.

If you see some of my posts with images @4K maxed it is often because people have asked me to post them so they can see what it looks like as is the case in the last 2 threads of this type I have done.

Oh come on, you don't really believe this?

do you?

A bit of advice.

Turn down the completely unnecessary maxed out AA on 4K with your 4GB cards and you wouldn't struggle with vRam issues causing FPS dips.

Either that or get some of those 8GB Vapour-X before they go out of stock if you must run high AA.

Humbug, how do you know what 4K looks like and if it needs AA?
(Obviously using BF4 @ 200% scaling on a 1080p screen isn't valid as a basis for this statement, so wondering what you're basing it on)

Kaap, for comparison, how do you know what 4K looks like and if it needs AA?

Humbug, when you talk about gaming @ 4K, are you talking about gaming @ 4K or playing BF4 @ 1080p with 200% scaling?
How does Planetside 2 work on your card @ 4K for example?
What about Watch Dogs @ 4K?
Tomb Raider @ 4K?
Metro LL @ 4K?

Oh come on, you don't really believe this?

do you?

Of course he doesn't.

Humbug is a truely masterful troll, probably one of the best I have seen. People fall for his bait every single time without fail. It's amazing to watch, the ease in which he derails threads to take attention away from or highlight something is brilliant. Anyone remember what this thread was about?

He's got no need for the 8GB Vapour-X cards when he as 4 Titans.

But what if he doesn't want to drop settings? AA isn't unnecessary full stop. That's a matter of opinion.

His choices are not everyones need.

For example..

He's got no need for the 8GB Vapour-X cards when he as 4 Titans.

If he had 8GB 290X, or 6GB 790Ti's he would have no need for Titan Blacks, just because he has them does not mean everyone else must have them.

I'd love to know where he'd get 790Ti's from ;)

Although you are correct in saying just because he buys certain cards in particular it doesn't mean everyone else has to follow suit. He buys what he wants or what he needs for any given task.

Sounds like an interesting GPU tho, right? :p

So if he had a non existent 790ti he wouldnt need a titan black ?,, and guess its not a 780ti 6gb typoas there isnt one of those either..
So you recommend him to buy a 8GB card there like 20 of left in the world ? And doesnt have a option of simply adding more cards for more grunt
What happens in 3-6months if it breaks and is unfixable ? I dont know if they have spares to allow for this or not.

Your choices are also not everyone's needs, Btw what 4k screen did you go for humbug?

8gb Vapor X cards are no use as you can only get two on a motherboard.

As I said earlier apart from the extra eye candy you get from using max settings you also get the added bonus of smoother game play.

AMD have put a lot of work into Mantle but this causes more problems @4K than anything else, why have they allowed their partners the game devs to turn it into an absolute pile of garbage with it's rotton use of VRAM @4K. I thought the whole idea of Mantle was to help with lower speced hardware but instead it cripples quadfired 290Xs, I only mention this as you raised the matter of VRAM problems which are to a large extent self inflicted by AMDs incompetence.

I really enjoy using my 290Xs for gaming but when i read some of the posts in this thread with people defending the ridiculous or bashing a rival brand (The Titans) it really does make me wonder.
