Fall of the Titan?

His choices are not everyones need.

For example..

If he had 8GB 290X, or 6GB 790Ti's he would have no need for Titan Blacks, just because he has them does not mean everyone else must have them.

What other people use is nothing to do with me, just because I own a certain card does not mean I want everyone else to buy it. If this was the case everyone on the forums would be using HD5970s which I still own and am proud to still be using.

aren't they at the limits with current gen anyway?

for single card i think you'd need next gen/die shrink to do any good with 4k? or is a single card even enough? idk

To run 4K on a single card I think we are probably 2 generations away still.

then there's 8k once the gpu's catchup to 4k haha

Same sort of thing is happening now with 1440p and 4K. Cards being developed and designed for 4K work really well at 1440p. The 4K craze will also hopefully push performance forward a bit as people would have a reason to buy crazy powerful GPUs.

If you work on the basis that 4 Titans can just about run everything maxed @4K to do the same on a single card would need a core with nearly 30 billion transistors on it, I think we may be a couple of die shrinks away from that yet.:D:eek:

For a Single card at 4K. At a guess maybe 2017 but I think it will need more than a die shrink or two more like a new way of doing things (new GPU core and memory designs )

Three cards minimum for a 'solid' experience with 4k and 5 to 6gb to eliminate hitching with that many GPUS.

Also games still need AA at that resolution. Not copious amounts but they still need some.

Tried and tested. End.

Ask OCUK they know. Look at the 4k deals they and their competitors run.

...with a Titan or two.

These companies, encouraging us to buy things we don't need. Take it up with them :p

If only we had bought these 6gb cards.......

I'll be going 4k after the 22nd, ill do a review and give opinions on my experiences of 1 290x and then cf when it arrives and the thing is put in the loop.

Truthfully, I'm not sure what to expect, if the cards aren't up to it then I'll just suck it up untill the new cards are here I guess.

No, were just dumping the OcUK's ones as they are aged stock issue, so just smashing them out as to speak. :D

As they don't sell for us at a profit we won't be selling them again, the current price we loose money, but we just want shot of them.

Cheers Gibboz. Missed this in the rest of the bickering lol. I thought it a tad early to DC Blacks. That'll come soon enough though I imagine!

As a 2 card user, I wouldn't argue with that. I have the VRAM but not quite the grunt. 3 cards would be great to run top settings.

When I ordered my TBs (elsewhere) they only had three in stock. When I asked how many more they were getting they said that was it. TBs were not made in large numbers because the only reason they existed over the 780ti was the extra vram. Nvidia knew this too.

3gb vram will not be enough for 4k into the future. That's why TBs are £600 now and not the price of the 780ti. You're paying all of that extra for Nvidia to give you the vram you need, not the rationed amount they want you to have (to keep you coming back).

People say vram is a waste of time, yet, I know people who got laughed at for paying stupid money for 2gb 5870 Vapor X. Thing is, those cards still cut it in CFX at 1080p, the 1gb ones ran out of vram ages ago.

So YPYMYMYC really. I had no issues with dropping £695 a card on mine because I know power wise they have enough to sink a ship and vram will last. I could have spent £150 or so less on 780tis only to find in a years time they need replacing.
