The *Official* Eve Online Thread

The remaining active people from the OcUK corp moved into Ministry of Inappropriate Footwork http://eve-kill.net/?a=alliance_detail&all_id=3105 unfortunately due to what we do it is neither new player friendly or easy recruitment wise (spoilt by past events).

However most of us still hang out in the ocuk channel though it can be a bit empty at times lately and are willing to give advice, etc.

Yeh the mass changes are a terrible idea. Hopefully CCP change their mind on that... Need to listen to the talk from last night to see whether Fozzie managed to make it sound less terrible.

Anyone here in shadow cartel or any other low sec pirate corp. don't get on much atm as I've no room for my computer so using mrs mac book is a bit naff. Got just over 30mil sp in pvp can fly t3 min/cal

Wow they've started banning people who expressed disagreement with the wormhole changes (and not just the people who got really mad), along with perma-banning Somer after their own screw up (even if Somer was in the wrong) and the lack of communication over the wormhole changes really lost a lot of confidence in CCP.

what changes? I've a player stuck in a WH but i've not logged in for 8+ months now, eve just became a yawn fest for me :(

Several changes some are ok some very broken or mis-guided including:

-Spawn position after jumping a wormhole is now based on mass with the largest ships spawning the furthest away from the exit side of the wormhole. (BAD change and despite a lot of constructive feedback they basically gave everyone the finger and rammed it through. Even ignoring any other issues it shifts the balance of power towards the bigger fish in any scenario which is one of the things that wormhole space mostly managed to avoid upto this point).

-A new network of frig only wormholes that can't be collapsed (well they can but the logistics of doing it is insane). (Mostly an okish change but some aspects of them anyone who'd spent any time in wormhole space could see would be an issue - they are now going back and fixing most of those things though).

-Additional statics for C4 wormholes to make them more connected and less dead end C4 chains. (mostly good but some issues where it compounds other problems with other changes)

-Tweaks to system effects (mostly good but some seem a little out of touch with what actually happens in whs)

-Other misc stuff which is mostly great like sig IDs not resetting on down time, k162 side of the wormhole only appearing when someone actually jumps the wormhole, etc.

I've popped back into this I sold my main char a long time ago (2007) so am stuck with the mining alt I had with ~9m sp. So far I haven't done much other than train skills, I joined a corp but they had a war on so not much is happening and when I joined the 'not many' people on during my time actually turns out to be between 0 and 2 =/

I really want to get some money together with mining and missions, get my skills up then head into 0.0 again.

I've been considering buying a character as it would make it a lot easier to get back into things and capital ships are a long way off :(

If anyone would like to send wee Nobax some money or something to help get him back on his feet it would be appreciated :)

I'm tempted to come back, maybe make room for shazwa the return ;)

Hey Rroff count me as one of the permabanned for expression my opinions on those changes.

No way they permabanned based on feedback? I haven't had a active account for a couple of years as with the layoffs it just seemed like the development had really slowed down.

I read about the changes. I think I have been out of the loop for so long that I'm not sure what the jump changes will really bring.

the changes are massive, capital and super capital power projection is virtually gone from the game. Sov is already changing hands with all the big blocs getting a strong home land.

As a super pilot it makes me a little sad, as a sub cap pilot its amazing!

The latest trailer is interesting. Made using real voice comms from actual player battles.

There's an uncensored version of the trailer also.

The main community guy well I'm not sure how he got the job, he does ok but far too often jumps straight into the middle of a complicated situation with a heavy hand without taking the time to understand the situation i.e. banning someone's account and denying arbitration based on one of their character names matching the 3rd party forum name used by someone who had their accounts banned for being abusive ingame and apparently coming to a resolution on the hugely complicated issue with somer blink in less than 24 hours, etc.

Development has kicked up a notch over the last couple of months, early December update looks like being massive.

Again though while there are a lot of great changes there are some that are being hammered through despite well reasoned constructive (and non-constructive) feedback as to why they are bad that is basically "la la la'd" over but will end up having to be reversed or some kind of arbitrary mechanism/feature implemented to work around them post patch.

The jump changes are a mixed bag, at some levels they have changed things for the better (better than I expected as far as the main goal goes) but the knock on effect is kind of meh - if your completely unrelated to the main null blocs and all the issues there it stomps on your ability to move capitals around for logistic purposes and/or ninja PVE, etc. I've also a couple of alts I mess around with black ops on which its hit pretty hard (and basically made 3-4 months of training on 2 characters a waste of time). I'm still not convinced it couldn't have been done in a more elegant way without the knock on effect for people completely unrelated to the main problem.

All in all I've lost a lot of enthusiasm for playing the game as in a game supposedly about playing the long game far too often you end up getting penalised for doing just that and I've no interest personally in chasing the flavour of the month gameplay.

Oh man that trailer gave me goosebumps! I had a couple of chars that were like 5yrs old by the time I called it a day and what an experience it was! Looks like the GUI has gone through some nice changes. Miss the battles and skirmishes :(

GUI getting another massive update in the incoming patch - with mixed opinions - personally I quite like the new dark theme with transparency though some of the icons leave a bit to be desired.
