Should the BBC bring back 'Tomorrow's world?

Additionally any show that was looking at future tech and not just gadgets would also have to tackle political and social issues. It is quite clear that the way tech is currently moving it is going to have huge implications on society....maybe they don't want to cover that stuff.

It is very difficult for example to cover driverless vehicles without worrying people who currently work as haulage drivers.

I'm sure some people here think tomorrows world was just like the gadget show. It covered much wider issues to do with manufacturing, housing and all sorts.

I don't watch anything on BBC anymore. There used to be a lot more technical stuff. Where does the money go

I think I only watch BBC for the f1 now and bbc3 for family guy etc
Last I heard BBC 3 was being scrapped. It's almost a dead relic that I still have to pay for

Tomorrow's World was always a bit of a joke to be honest. Who else remembers the demonstration about how 'indestructible' CDs were by spreading jam on one and drilling holes in it? I used to watch it as a kid but can't really remember one prediction that they got right...

CDs were much tougher back then, these days they are rubbish.

What about the Great British Bake Off, I mean that is the only thing I watch on actual TV at the moment.

At the moment I just watch this and grand designs as regular shows. The BBC does have some occasional good documentaries though, The Art of China recently was very good.

They should just make horizon better.
I remember as a kid seeing episodes on String Theory, and the origins of the universe, which made be very interested in Physics, and is probably one of the reasons that I studied it at University.
The last time I watched it was some doctor telling people that moving more makes you lose weight. The depth of the content is all gone.

No, the Internet provides enough information in a fast changing world. Click is naff, Horizon is fine for what they do. The Beeb would always be behind the times and would dumb it down so far that it wouldn't be worth watching.

this is now a fit pictures of Phillipa Forester thread:

Was it just me who thought Philipa Forrester was a saucy minx back in the day?
Oh yes! *Rubs knees*
It was a great show but the formula just wouldn't work in todays world. Then again if shows like Mythbusters or whatever it is can survive...

They've tried with Bang Goes the Theory, but they just don't seem to have got the show right. I can't watch it because it reminds me of my failed TV science career and things that could have been, but they still don't seem to have managed to get good viewing figures out of it.

Was it just me who thought Philipa Forrester was a saucy minx back in the day?
No, it wasn't just you ;)

I used to enjoy Tomorrow's World but whether it would still be a valid premise now is another matter. I'd certainly give it a try if they were to bring it back.

Yeh, used to live Tomorrow's World back in the day.

I'm still waiting for that Satellite receiver that you could stick on a window to arrive on the market!
