Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Depends, im a vet but something in the series needs to change. Ghosts was abysmal to say the least, i dont have high hopes for this but i really do hope they make a good game.

I'm a COD vet as well and I'm looking forward to trying out all the boosting stuff. Anybody that isn't is just a miserable git that's too stuck in their ways. Funnily enough the people that were asking for change are now the people moaning about the changes.

Most 'vets' don't want drastic changes. From what I've seen they mostly want it to go back to the basic ways of mw1.

I agree Ghosts was pretty bad and yes they need to do something but this, this is just not COD, not in my eyes. I can appreciate that people dont want the same old thing but this, urgh, no.

This is exactly what I think, if they brought out a MW1 remastered for this gen I would be all over it like a bad rash.

Yes Cod 4 is my favourite and was perfect at the time of release there was no competiton I was new to the 360 and online gaming and it just felt perfect when thinking back it wasn't but still feels the best online shooter to me because of the situation. However when I think of a remastered version I wonder to myself would I enjoy it again especially now I've accustomed to the new killstreaks and perks etc the later games have. I played CoD4 for 2 years mainly because I disliked WaW but not sure going back is the right thing to do. This probably won't feel like COD but with the drivvel we got presented with in terms of MW3 and Ghosts it has to be an improvement and they had to take a risk changing things up. It's hard to say whether it will be good or bad, but the boosting looks like it's going to add a steeper skill gap which I'm glad about and some pretty intense fast paced games. I might hate it but I appreciate there efforts in trying to change it as playing COD for the last 7 years religiously has made it lose it's wow factor since MW2.

I've made this point already, the change is everybody is asking for is not for more BS overpowered snipers and shotguns and laser cannons, more overpowered score streaks and stupid abilities that let you do crazy 360 no scopes.

We want less of the BS not more of it. Like Thunder says, give us some SMGs, some assault rifles and pistols, some perks, maybe some pro perks and a couple of score streaks that are fun to use and that's it. Use the same formula for content as what MW2 had.

The community would go ape **** crazy if they went back and did that. But they won't because the 12 year olds won't buy it.

What's the point in that though? So they moan about it getting stale but then say they want it to go back to how it was? Eh?! There's no pleasing some people.

Give it a year or two and I'm sure one of the marketing people will realise they can market it as going back to the 'roots' etc. Then they can just up the textures on COD 4 and re-release it :D

No that isn't how it is, it is simply a case of wanting a balanced BS less COD. I don't think it needs to go back to absolute basics like MW1, any of the newer COD's (except Ghosts) would also work as long as the BS is removed. Pretty much all COD's suffer with QS'ing so change snipers to require hardscoping, Snipers OHK should be chest and head only. Passed that each COD had its own problems but a remake of MW2 but without stackable killstreaks and no OMA would be perfect.

Who is they? The majority or minority? People just want a balanced game. I want a normal run and gun game with no op streaks or op weapons. I don't see many people moaning about cod being stale. The people who I see Moaning are the ones who dislike how unbalanced the game is and how it's catered to the kids.

thats a whole separate crowd.

I know the people you're talking about - the ones posting about "Call of Duty Recycled Warfare" and the only way for those people to be happy is for activision to abandon yearly releases and release one COD game every 2/3 years and then brief the developer to try and make every game different from the last.

Trouble is, the majority of the COD fan base, who actually buy these millions of copies every year, don't mind the game being broadly the same. Change it too much and it won't be COD any more. A change of theme would be nice (eg do a Pacific Campaign WWII shooter) but again you can only change the theme so many times. Change it every year and you'll run out of themes. Activision can't win with this lot.

But in my experience the "Recycled warfare lols" crowd are usually the one that haven't bought a cod game since MW2 and say they won't buy another until they use a new engine or some other daft criteria. Even if they did change the engine, and re make the game from scratch and properly shake things up, the next game after that would be broadly similar and the complaints would start again. You can't re innovate every 12 months and there's no point trying only to please this demographic, especially when this demographic aren't buying COD games every year.

Most of us in this thread do buy the game every year - getting broadly similar games is bound to happen when you release a new one every 12 months. What should activision do when they make a perfect COD, never release another COD game ever again/ How do you improve on perfection without breaking it ?

Most of the core fanbase that bought every COD game every year and didn't buy ghosts - has done so because they've got fed up of the current trend for modern futuristic shooters full of BS and overpowered weapons and scorestreaks.

Keep it similar by all means, but focus on making the game simpler, and more balanced, and remove all the BS stuff designed to let people who are terrible at the game get revenge on those that are better through cheap means - like dead man's hand.

Very well said sir, though had to fix the last bit for you :p

I'm not so sure on this bit, I sold Ghosts because in all honesty it's a bad, boring, dull game and the maps are rubbish.

I also sold Ghosts for the above reasons too large maps, lack of killstreaks and most of going back to killstreaks. I found the killstreaks system to be aimed towards camping and it's incredibly stale I enjoy playing the objective and having something to play for like BO2 scorestreaks implementation worked a treat.

While I agree with that, it will never happen. All the cheap and noob friendly crap, QSing and BS is what makes people buy the game.
I'd love them to make COD simpler but as it won't happen I just want it to be fun.

Not sure if I'll be chased with pitch forks for uttering a positive note about this game, but the single player is looking like a serious amount of fun.

Look at those grenades, especially the red stripe highlighter.
