So on the latest financial call Activision have confirmed that CoD is moving to a three studio development cycle with Sledgehammer games making CoD 2014 and Treyarch's next game coming out in 2015.

Now this could turn out to be a good thing for CoD as the extra development time could really help.

But after the luke warm reception Ghosts got this year, and with Sledgehammer releasing their first version of CoD they could, if they are not careful they could damage the series beyond being able to save it.

It's certainly going to be interesting to see how this game goes down when it's released and how well it's received.

Famous last words.

Lolz :D

I read this the other day and it's certainly interesing.
Giving each studio 3 years is certainly a good idea. Hopefully it means they'll come up with some new ideas.
Personally I'd like a totally revamped MP:
QSing needs to be taken out of the game as does k/d.
If they have UAV's then make the counter more like in BO2 where you need to moving for it to work.
Make the maps a decent size but go back to simpler designs instead of the cluster ***** we have now.
Bring back Score Streaks from BO2 so players are rewarded for playing objectives.
Have a dynamic spawn system instead of fixed spawns.
Get rid of all the noob crap like Target Finders or Thermal Scopes.

I REALLY hope they do use a new engine. I believe they use a modified version of id tech 3 so why not just upgrade it to id tech 5?

It will probably be 1 step forward 2 steps back. One of the 3 studios will come up with something good and it won't get passed on to the others until too late. So you have to wait 3 years for the good features to come round again.

The single player games are turd, they are mindless but they are still run to the imaginary trigger line turd. In fact if anything they have got worse. The casino level in ghosts is the bets example. You push forward to the escalators and they keep spawning until you run out of ammo. Then I found it you just leap over the side and hide behind a plant pot it triggers your men to move forward and they clear the floor and checkpoint.

Utter mindless drivel made in a lunch break. Predator and drone strikes have been drone to death, let's dream up Odin.

COD could be awesome if they just made a MP game based around 3-5-7 or if they have to MW2 but with score streaks and only 1 air unit per side per time. Then just add season passes and map packs and have every map in the game, not just revert to 10 or so each year.

Tbh I don't really care anymore , the game has long drifted past anything I'm interested in MP wise. The xbox community since COD came along has killed any interest I have in MP games.

You can't blame IW and Treyarch, people kept lapping up that **** so they kept making it. People bought games that had worse team AI than GRAW which was almost a launch title. Hell in Graw you could select what type of support you wanted in your team and point them at what to target and where to move. Same with R6.

This game you put you left foot in your left foot out and watch the AI run about.

There's no excuse for the spawning and it's got sod all to do with map size. You get no spawning issues with Gears or Graw on maps of the same size. It's just a lazy game.

Just remake COD 4 with a new engine on dedicated servers and feed in the other COD's maps and weapons as DLC. Job done. ;)

Sorry I dont care, after playing Ghosts, it is without question the biggest whores abortion of a game that I have ever experienced, considering how much it is talked about, absolutely god awful, part of me actually grinned at the state of it, its now a parody of what people used to exaggerate about its game play.

The can flush the franchise down the toilet.

Totally agree, no interest in MP now after playing BF4, I've realised what people have been saying the last few years and have woke up to the crap CoD involves.

I'm going to complete SP and not touch MP.

They're just interested in milking it for all it's worth.

I just hope we get a good SP game next time around as they used to be great entertainment.

If they could fix the spawns, go back to basics with the killstreak rewards, cut down the amount of utterly bogus perks and design maps which have some sort of structure to them then that'd be a good start.

I know it was done to death previously but maybe they should consider a return to WWII? That way they can do away with all the gadgets.

As a single player game it worked far better. COD 2 was the best of the lot for SP campaigns and WAW would have been pretty good too if it wasn't for the spawning on certain sections. Those games where rock hard on Veteran.

The power weapons are just too overused now. That sniper rifle for instance in one a game or two ago that you could shoot/see people through walls. Yeah it was a nice addition if they let you use it once to fire off one round, but they let you use it almost whenever you liked. Then there's the almost unlimited ammo that you don't even have to pick up.

You should have to pick your shots more, conserve ammo.

They just dumbed the whole thing down to 5-6 hours of dragons lair gameplay. Fair play they get away with it each and every year.

So...re-release COD4 then?

Would that be a bad thing? :p

There is so much bloat in this series now, I don't think they have made a genuine gameplay improvement since Call of Duty 4. They still haven't figured out how to make logically laid out maps since half of the original Infinity Ward staff left either.

I would welcome and pay for that, they lost all sight of the gameplay after it, MW2 w2as just about passable with the kill streaks, then it was just a cluster **** of a mess.

I personally believe that COD4 had the very best maps as well.

Yeah, MW and MW2 were the only games in the series to have classic maps, the maps these days are pretty forgettable.

That's pretty much intentional though isn't it? I remember seeing an interview where the CoD developers ranted on about how having such an open map with many access points to all areas was a great change.

If so then I don't see them ever going back on this.

That's a shame, I miss the old maps. It's still a decent enough multiplayer experience. Probably my favorite FPS for multiplayer still but there is not much in the way of competition out there really compared to years ago.
