The olde TV licence

I have been on a final warning for 4 years now. I am currently under investigation and an investigator will be around to visit. I am starting to get annoyed with the harassment to be honest. I am considering going from ignore them to something else. I thought what i could do is mail their letters back to them, again and again. Just RTS.

Lol TV license.
I don't know the last time I watched ANYTHING on TV, even streamed it.
I download everything and store it on my NAS system.

So my girlfriend has literally just moved into a new flat about a week ago. I have come to visit and we watched a couple of episodes on 4od, she now had a letter saying there is going to be an inspection of her flat for TV licence things. She has no TV and doesn't intend on getting one, she has no TV licence. Is this all talk or is there any reason to worry?

Thanks

Reply to them with:

"Thanks for your letter requesting an inspection, we would be more than happy to accommodate this, please respond with your preferred inspection date and time, along with a cheque to cover the entrance fee of £145.50"

The average person in the UK believes the old myth, if you own a tv you need a tv license. You are required to have one if you watch live broadcasts and that is it. Cancel via phone, ask for a refund for the period you have been paying and not watching live broadcasts and once completed tell them you have removed their implied right of access from your property. Problem over.

I had another one of those "we said we'd call" leaflets put through my letter box the other day so I must have had another visit while I was taking a nap. The cheeky git didn't even fill in his details on the front of it. TVL "officer" fiddling his time sheets again no doubt.

They also seem to believe in the detector vans as well.

I can't imagine why people think they would ever need a tv license.
The BBC (or any corporation for that matter) has absolutely no right, to force anyone to pay for any thing, even if they are watching TV. The parliamentary acts (commonly mistaken as laws) just give them permission to chase us for money (create joinder/contract).
When will people wake up to this slavery bull ****.
Anyone who actually thinks they have to bow down to these corporations are just giving up their sovereign rights to life.
Watch tv all you want, just don't answer the door and don't reply to their letters, they can't do a damn thing to you without your co-operation or consent.

Tell her to get a Video camera and to learn her "rights as a Freeman of the land," then get her to be smug and righteous and stick said device in peoples faces and tell them its your legal right all while being utterly unreasonable and borderline mentally ill.

It's the OCUK way!

Or you could be a normal, courteous human being.

Inspection...lmao.

Just tell them to go away when they come, they have no legal powers what so ever have do not have the right to enter your property.

aside from the 'keeping them out of your gaff' angle, my ex has just been informed that she doesn't need to have a tv license, as she only watches catch up TV online, not live streams of broadcast channels.

If this applies to your situation as well, worth checking out (she's registered disabled, so there may be more to it than that!)

I think my current license expires in 2015 but after that I'm not going to renew. The only think I watch on it is the news in the morning, the lefty BBC news (and Weather) are at least of a decent quality but I can live without. There's also streaming news on the BBC website, but I cant ever see me giving permission to a TV license guy to check my browsing history.

I honestly think the license fee will naturally die out anyway in the next 10 years, it's just failed to evolve. I mostly use youtibe anyway for documenaries and stuff which I can watch when I want, as often as I want for no fee. TV is a bit quaint.
