*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

Looking at doing this now, one my pads is wearing out now, What is the general consensus on the best replacement Xbox or eBay PS4 versions?

Definitely preferring the xbox ones, just like everyone else.

My goodness. There really ought to be a separate thread for discussing Xbone sticks on DS4. This is about the ninth time...

Look, another post about xbox and ps4 sticks!!

GET HIM BOYS

Do they design themes with 5 year olds in mind or something. I didn't find a single one i liked on PS3 doubt it will be any different on PS4.

It needed themes. Main screen was all to impersonal.

In needed better organisation before it needed themes. The lack of a basic folder structure seems like an oversight, especially once you factor in the sheer number of apps these consoles (can) offer.

Why on earth there wasn't a basic folder structure from the get go is baffling.

There was folders on the ps3.

I still genuinely believe that the ps4 was never meant to be launched when it did, but after MS announced their launch Sony had to act fast and sped up their schedule in order to launch at the same time.

That's why the OS is so basic and didn't have basic features like 3D blu ray playback and such which even the ps3 has.

You can bet that the OS will improve a lot over the next year.

Forget themes I want 16 man party chats

Installed the new thumbsticks today. They feel pretty good. I thought it might feel weird being aluminium instead of rubber or plastic but to me it's just the same. I haven't played anything yet as I'm at work but will give it a blast when I get in later.

But so far they feel nice and I deff prefer them over the larger rubber grips you can buy.

Themes are all well and good (although on the PS3 I always find myself going back to the original one anyway), but paying any sort of money for them is absurd.

They normally give some Themes away with PSN+ so hopefully that will continue with PS4... having said I never changed mine very often apart from Halloween and Christmas times.

Hmmmm aluminium sounds like it will be rough on the thumbs.

Let me know if your thumbs get sore after a long gaming session

If they are the same sticks as the ones xtremedetailz posted then there isn't any sharp or rough edges so I see no reason why they would be rougher than rubber ones. I ordered some metal ones out of curiosity but stuck to rubber ones as they felt grippier IMO.

Rubber is surely preferable for long-term comfort, especially with something like a gamepad where your thumbs rub so frequently against the sticks, and thus need something softer and more tactile. Aluminium is too hard imo.

They feel much better to me - feels like I have more control for some reason.

I actually feel like I can grip these ones more than the rubber ones as the rubber wears quickly and becomes really smooth. They are certainly a lot better than the ORB grips - those things are oversized and it can cause issues with the movement of the analogue stick.

Many people may not have noticed it. I didn't until I played Diablo 3 where the menu system requires a full circular sweep of the stick - sometimes it wouldn't go to some positions due to the ORB grips.

It depends how you hold it though. If you slide your thumbs around a lot then they won't be very comfortable after a long session. When I play though my thumb stays in the centre concave of the thumbstick so playing for 10 minutes or 10 hours won't make a difference.

The ideal situation would be if the orignals were simply good quality - bit of a shame to have to resort to this but I can just forget about it now.
