are you addicted to your pc

i remember around 7 years ago our warehouse boss, who was in is 40s was playing halflife on his pc in is dinner break. and every one thought he was a weirdo except me. as i had the game at home, i still play pc games now in my 50s but some people frown on gaming. thats why i dont mention it to anyone.

I expect things have changed quite a bit now, what with the popularity of casual gaming with the masses. Greater source of revenue than music or film, iirc.

I think it is because a lot of people who aren't into computers (I think still in a majority) see it as a waste, and would rather do something else in their spare time, such as: socialising, sports, other hobbies (i.e. non computer ones), spending time with family, reading, going for a walk, spending time away from the computer.

When you put it like that I can't help but lean towards the death bed scenario; when you're on your death bed you won't be wishing you spent more time at work but more time with family, travelllng, exercising, meeting new people, staying in touch with friends.

I think computer (PC or smartphones) can pull you away from these things which are more important even if it has it's benefits.

Well at least using a PC they are not blindly walking across roads like zombies as they are today with their phones.

I was walking from one office to the other this week and a pair of colleagues walked past me, one said "I wonder how many times you've walked into things" jokingly - Didn't realise really but every time I'm walking between offices I'm catching up on IMs, emails and whatnot but at the same time I'm still fully aware of my surroundings. I know there are people that are not and will simply smack their face into a pole or whatever.

Those people give the rest of us a bad rep :p

If you count PC/ work/ laptop etc and phone (seeing as I use them all for pretty much the same thing(i.e. internet and games)) I think I spend easily 12+ hours a day.

I have started to think about this a lot. We (well a lot of us) spend all day at work looking at a screen, then home and watching TV or gaming. Some can't even take a dump without looking at yet another screen.

Last year I went away for two weeks and did not take any mobile devices, laptops etc (despite the free wifi). I watched a bit of football in the bar but that was it. The time away from the screens, and therefore the information/communication bombardment. Sea breeze, a cigar, a good book.. even if only for two weeks in a year, it was truly refreshing.

I'm not really addicted to my PC though I used to be into building them and then gaming on them. There dosent seem to be any games out there that justify me throwing money at it anymore and these Graphics cards don't really come down in price do they. sob sob sob.:p

As long as I can have a few rounds of BF3 on my aging GTX460 I'm happy I suppose.:)

Maybe I'm getting old but that's no excuse. hehehe

Id say yes i am,I use to hardcore game on it but as of lately i just watch live streams,Browse the net and general stuff with the occasional game or 2..i seem to not really enjoy gaming that much anymore though..maybe its because im getting older who knows.

I'm online from the moment I wake until the moment I sleep. But I'm not addicted. I could put it all down tomorrow if I wanted to. Only that I work, run a business and keep up to date socially on computers. Not to mention all the other stuff; banking, porn, shopping, porn... Porn.

Hmmm laptop..naaa... OcUK... Yeahhh I guess....

I do a lot of reading on here, talking **** etc.... It is either that or making conversation with the mrs...

IMO nope, I go out I do not bother with my phone unless it rings and again when at my desktop PC I am not walking into people or in front of cars.

I could go without my PC for a day no problem but these phone addicts would not know WTF to do with themselves.
