I'm a practical person. Once one person has solved the problem I fail to see the merit in everybody else attempting to solve it on their own. There is no benefit to this.

Hence whoever solves it first can tell the group :p

It's not like we're at puzzle class :p
 
I just want to give a huge thanks to everyone that got involved in this, I knew if I brought it to OCUK someone would figure it out.

my first thought was that each circle has a proportion of dark blue and the number would be the proportion of light blue to dark blue

but then i thought, why would they have different angles on them?

so i then thought it might be to do with the angle of the line but then the top three would be 000 or perhaps 001?

Anyway, then i thought about those 360 degree protractors and thought it might be to do with that

In the end i got fed up and went off for a shower :)

My nephew recently did a whole book full of these for his final year at primary school. Part of the assessment they do of children's problem solving skills prior to going to secondary school, I believe. Tho I never did anything like that when I was at school.

Some of them were a lot harder than this! So you could try a 10 year old's end of school tests if you like :p

now for a [slightly more proper] puzzle:



ok, so these 4 chaps are wearing baseball caps, they each know there is 2 black caps and 2 white [ok, transparent] caps in the group of 4 but they do not know what colour cap they are wearing.

they are not permitted [on pain of death :o ] to turn around, and none of them can see through the badly drawn wall of eternal blackness. which one of them can confidently shout out what colour cap he is wearing without being shot for being wrong?

also, i'm plainly an artist irl, dem photoshop skillz :p
