Why? I bet you don't know why they pay it. lmfao

If you don't like our royal family you can always move back ;)

They don't pay it, the Royals have no claim to the revenues of the Crown Estate, the Queen as Monarch owns it in name only, it is not the private property of the Queen it belongs to the UK. It is a complete myth the Queen pays £200Million* of her own money as 'Taxes'.

*It is the profits generated but £200Million is the oft quoted figure.

But don't take my word for it..

No-one here can say for certain whether the Royals are value for money as the fact is, no-one knows exactly how much they cost as the Security Costs are a closely guarded secret, anyone who says they are value for money is wrong as is anyone who says they cost us money. No-one here actually knows.

Bruce Wayne Windsor?

Bruce Lee Windsor :p

I knew they would have another baby although I would have thought they would have waited a little bit, especially given the publicity it gets, I would have wanted a little more downtime but good for them I guess :)

They are good for tourism though I won't deny that. :) but that means having foreign people here which clueless people like deuse seem to find rubbish ;)

Do I care about spending a few quid for them? Not really, but I believe in a republic system, I don't believe anyone is born of "pure blood" or whatever, and I am not her subject. I just find it a quaint antiquated system. Nothing wrong with it, but frankly they don't really live in the "real" world do they?

Pretty much sums up my view too. I can't help but like some of the royal family and dislike others at the same time. I'm basically a Republican though. I strongly disagree with the whole birth right privilege system we have here. It's completely antiquated now and in my view, it's time we moved on and became a republic.

Still, I wish Kate and Will good luck with their pregnancy.

Ditto, but I partly feel the Monarchy may save us from losing our identity when things start to break down further.

Another scronger is on the way

Always look forward to MrMoonX's ray of sunshine in each thread he replies to :)

Thats the best way if you are planning on having a family, kids year or 2 apart. Only people who didn't really want kids or only have kids because they fell pregnant have them 5-6-10 years apart.

I have two children less than two years apart and I resent that.

Ahhh the blond royalist fawning in thread is puke worthy, one day this country will be a true democracy, where all children are born citizens not subjects of inbreds

I think you'll find that a lot of Brits aren't fond of the royal family.

And yes I do know that they bring in money thanks to one of the laws brought in in the 18C but so what? Does it net out on what they cost? No it doesn't.

OMFG the royal family cost £32 million a year. They give us back £200 Million in cash every year.
And don't forget £500+ million in tourism the royal family bring in.

All of which you can't actually definitively prove, so it's pointless arguing it.

The only reason I could give a **** that they're having another kid is if we get a bank holiday.

Please?

that whole argument has been dashed repeatedly time and time again, the royals dont equal tourism

It greatly exceeds what they cost.

It's not a law.

Most of that cost would exist for any head of state.

If you argue against the monarchy on the basis of money then you just make yourself look ignorant or deceitful.

This is the most amazing news I've ever heard, and I hope it will all over the media so I can't read or hear about anything else for the next week. Joy unbounded.

I agree and am already scouring the Internet for commemorative mugs.
