My 4s is in it's death roll or I would agree with you. Only the increase volume button works, even the mute slider doesn't work now so I can only have silent ring, flash doesn't work either. Even the 5/s is bigger than I want really.

I just wish they would bring out a functional phone for the rest of us. As I say just whack a better battery in a 4s with higher storage options and a 2 or 3 year old chip.

I don't mind the restrictive OS, I don't do much with the phone anyway but I think I'm getting pushed by them down the android route as they don't make anything for me anymore.
That's called the iPhone 5c :p

The amount of people I have read on this and other forums stating their iPhone is about on its last legs astonishes me.

Either people treat their iPhones like some utilitarian steam engine or iPhones aren't the beautifully crafted engineering marvels that Apple like to claim.

For what they cost I would expect to have at least five years service from them. My Galaxy S2 is now around 3 years old and works like it's just been unboxed.

My 4s looks like new but the battery is now next to useless.

Mine looks new, but:

Volume ramps up to max on it's own and get stuck, have to bash the volume buttons to stop it
Phone locks up 80% of the time when i take a photo
Battery life not so great.

OK so bit sad but I just cut up some thick cardboard to the sizes of the phones and what on earth are Apple thinking, the plus is a monster.
I have a bit larger than average hands at 8.5" (sized up for Golf club grips :p) and it will be way too big for comfortable use, forget about that UI adjust thing, just holding it with one hand will be a nuisance in my opinion.
Really annoying as I wanted the better battery but unless you carry a hand/man bag around with you... I couldn't keep something like that in my jacket or trouser pocket.
The non plus seems on about the limit so will have to settle for marginal if any battery improvement once again.

Is anyone here actually interested in getting the Plus knowing how big it is? If you are and haven't really sized it up I suggest you do similar before pre-ordering one as I was thinking of doing.

Reaally tempted to go for the 6+ just for the battery life. Apple need to realise most people would prefer the same thickness phone for a bigger battery.

If a S4 is 5", then surely the 5.5" cant be that much bigger? Will have to play around with one, but the only time I can get to the Apple store is on launch.... and I'd prefer to get one delivered on the day.

Just priced up the 6+ I'd been planning to buy and it's cheaper than I thought it would be at £699, however it doesn't offer me anywhere near enough to leave android so it'll be the exynos Note 4 for me if it comes to the UK or the Nexus 6/ wait and see what 2015 brings along, none of the watches appeal yet and I'm sorry to say the Apple Watch appeals least of the bunch by a fair margin, I was looking forward to trying an iphone meh.

I was hoping this launch would result in reduced prices for the iPhone 5c but unfortunately they have now stopped selling the 32GB version and even the 16GB - wth can one do with only 8GB these days  This is just confusing as on the iPhone 6 the size jumps from 16GB-64GB, so it's not like they'd be short of 32GB units.

I'm not a fan of the larger-sized phones, having used a Nokia 820 for a few months and having gone back to iPhone 4 for the one handed non-brick experience (now dead slow thanks to Apple making their OS and apps run everything on older tech slower - forced obsolescence really should be as illegal as price fixing and cartels).

Also, with the 6+ wouldn't it have made sense to add an extra row of apps on each page? Perhaps that will happen in iOS8.

It's near enough the same size as the Note 3, bit longer but crucially narrower and thinner. I've played with and pocketed a Note 3 plenty of times it's absolutely fine. Also, I have tiny girl hands.

Note 3 : 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3
iPhone 6+: 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1

Why are people surprised about the size of the 6+, I assume you've all seen a Galaxy Note? They're quite popular and the iPhone 6+ is for those people - the rest are fine with the iPhone 6 which is relatively small.

People who have tried the 6+ have said it feels good in the hand if you've got decent sized hands.

I just printed the template out.

Holy moly

The iPhone 5s fits on the LCD screen portion of the 6+, that's how big it is! I doubt I'd get that so it looks like I'll go for a regular 6.

Those same people complained about the Note, I think some of it just has to do with their apple bias and the event hype that makes everything seems better then it really is.

For me personally I'm slightly disappointed the 6+ has better specs, I was really hoping for it to be similar to the rMini/Air where everything is the same. OIS is huge for example, that video of the dude on the bike recording a video is basically impossible on the iPhone 6, same with the low light shoot and thats a huge let down. The 1080p display would have been nice as well, mostly for aliasing, I was using my Nexus 4 recently to test it out and I noticed a lot of aliasing that I had never noticed before. This is no issue on my Nexus 5.

Colors I'm not 100% sure about yet, I like the 5s 2 tone design more and I think this is a step back.

Did they say in the keynote why they discontinued the 32Gb version?

No, but i suspect it because most people would go for the 32gb model.

As this is no longer available, they will 'upgrade' rather than 'downgrade' on memory resulting in more profit for apple.

Bit sneaky if you ask me, but they are a business after all.

So i did some diggin as i had the Oneplus One which was too big for my day to day use and one handed usage (giggidy). It turns out that the IP6+ is bigger in every way, very interested to see this in the flesh but its undoubtedly too big.

OPO H 152.9mm W 75.9mm D 8.9mm Weight 162g Cost outright Au$450 delivered

IP6 + H 158.1mm W 77.8mm D 7.1mm Weight 172g Cost outright Au$1,100 +

Most people tend to like the Note, it's big and fiddly (and the 6+ will be too), but if you want a big screen and great battery it's usually always recommended.

No it's not. The retina mini has much worse colour range and a lower clocked processor.

That's precisely what narked me off about the mini this time round!

Guessing it is unusable one handed though? How do you hit back buttons otherwise? Maybe that is why they have implemented the side swipes to move forward and back in iOS 8.
