iPhone 5 and 5s is 4", where did you get 4.9" from?

I meant total size, not screen size. I thought the iphone 6 was a similar total height to the 5 & 5s but its even bigger. I dont see what the deal is with phones getting bigger and bigger.

If i wanted a giant phone why not get an ipad.

I bet the 6 + is about the same size as an ipad mini!?

Just to throw this in here for anyone who likes to talk about market share.

Android might have a slight lead in smartphone platform market share, but this is because its used in a massive range of phones from all sorts of manufacturers. If you look at the actual handset market share figures, Apple are far and away ahead of their nearest rival (Samsung). Bearing in mind, at any one time, Apple make 3 phones, where Samsung have 8-10 on the go.

My 4s is in it's death roll or I would agree with you. Only the increase volume button works, even the mute slider doesn't work now so I can only have silent ring, flash doesn't work either.

I think I'm getting pushed by them down the android route as they don't make anything for me anymore.

The amount of people I have read on this and other forums stating their iPhone is about on its last legs astonishes me.

Either people treat their iPhones like some utilitarian steam engine or iPhones aren't the beautifully crafted engineering marvels that Apple like to claim.

For what they cost I would expect to have at least five years service from them. My Galaxy S2 is now around 3 years old and works like it's just been unboxed.

Not trolling as I am seriously considering one!! But this is at least fairly funny, lol

Or then again there's THIS

Ha Ha! that is so good whatever your views may be. I just love an ironic ad. :D

I too am seriously looking at the Nexus. If I add in my £8 per month SIM only plus £299 for the phone that works out at £20.50p per month over 24 months. I doubt you will get an iPhone 6 contract for that sort of money.

Not sure what your point is?

That article only mentions a 6 month snapshot of smartphone platform market share. My point was that Apple has the smartphone handset market share by some distance, even with their nearest rival producing ~3 times as many models of phones.

Built-in obsolescence. Battery lasts 1,000 charge/discharge cycles. Battery can't be easily replaced. 2.5 - 3 years from new, your phone is a paperweight unless you pay to have the battery replaced.

So the only thing about the iphones that I am still on the fence about is the duel core design - DUEL core?! WHAT THE.............how will this effect the phone realistically, I am using a sony xperia z origonal right now, and sure its not to bad tbh, but even it is quad core with 2gb ram..........how will this duel core affect the iphone 2 years down the line? I am not sure its enough if I am honest

disagree.

Number of cores is a meaningless measure in isolation. Its just used for willy waving. You'd need to go more in depth and look at clock cycles, cache numbers etc.. to work out if the new A8 is as "under powered" as people seem to think ti has because it has half the number of cores of other phone processors.

Any news on NFC in the UK yet? It's pretty annoying it's taken Apple for the world to pay attention but I've been clamouring for UK NFC phone payments since Google announced it 4 years ago!

Also 6+, any hardware spec difference other than OIS and battery? Really wish they'd just started at 32gb aswell 16->64 is a bit of a jip.

rumors of different amounts of RAM. but nothing confirmed.

As for UK NFC, even without the bank support, can you still charge it to the credit card on your itunes account.

I suspect the European banks and shops will follow later.

Apple's processors have always been very good, but its more down to IOS rather than anything else. Android has big quad cores and lots of ram as it needs it where as IOS is much more fluid and not so resource hungry.

It is the same with WP8 that was on dual core for ages but was super smooth and fluid.

With the talk of UK NFC etc... I do get annoyed that the UK lags with new apple products so you can't fully use the features (iTunes radio for instance).

Do people still honestly believe this these days?

Ill entertain you for amusements sakes, the MotoG had a dual core processor and 1GB of ram and is largely considered to be one of the smoothest phones on the market. People still regurgitating the same rubbish about Android they did 5 years ago...

Samsung are literally the only manufacturer from any of the mobile OS's (WindowsPhone, IOS, Android) that still release a less then totally smooth experience. That is largely because they modify Android so much and fill it with rubbish.

No prices from the networks yet! I'm interested to see the contract price differences between the 6 and the 6 plus.
