So, my cheapo bluetooth speed/cadence sensor has arrived. Attempting to pair it with my phone isn't going so well :s
Are these speedplay things worth the money and maintenance or are they a marketing gimmick?
Caught me unawares this , thought my bike was over a month away.
I think the s5 has ant+ sensors in it?
You could buy the garmin speed/cadence sensor + HR monitor and connect them up to your phone.
I have a Note3 with ant+ and use an app called IpBike. Free version is limited to 1000km or something, full version costs £5.
Works fine connected to my speed/cadence sensor, HR monitor and power meter.

Pretty sure it has ANT+, I remember some software update for ANT+ I installed last night! Is ANT+ compatible with Strava? Is IpBike compatible with Strava? I'd kindof got used to the Strava app but have no problems changing app, as long as it'll sync with the strava website
Could you link the exact speed/cadence/HRM you have, are they all Garmin? I'm only thinking to get what's compatible with a future Garmin if I go that route after the mobile but for now the mobile and stuff on Strava is more than enough for me!![]()
Hey folks,
Had a quick search through this massive thread but couldnt find an answer. I'm currently having to use my Forerunner 410 for my cycles (basic, but does the job)
Was looking into buying a proper Cycling Computer, swithering on either the 510 and 810.
What do you lot use, if any? Only real difference I can see between the two is the use of maps.
Cheers!

What probs? What handset? I've played so much with Bluetooth the last couple of days trying to transfer items to my new S5 from my iPhone (and failing badly) but then also linking to my Fiesta's stereo (which has let me sync contacts from iphone to it and from it to S5 lol)

I like dual-sided entry
Yep, IpBike is compatible with strava. You record your ride using IpBike app and when you finish you get a list of checkboxes for sites that you can upload it to (strava, garmin connect, endomondo, etc etc etc).
I have the garmin gcs10 speed+cadence sensor like this.
I did use it with garmin HR straps too but i'd recommend another ant+ HR strap (i think the polar is supposed to be best - and compatible with all ant+ devices like Garmins) because I have had 2 garmin HR straps now and both of them stopped working.

Yep, the maps are the main difference.
I have a 500 (older version of 510 with no phone connectivity) because I have no need for the maps. I think most people here are the same.
There is also the 200 which does the same job as the 500 without any external (ant+) sensors, like HR monitor, cadence sensor, etc.
