Flying to Australia?

Hinckley to Heathrow. Times for trains would have meant going previous night so expensive. And buses I've got to get 15 miles away and buses only run the previous night too. Flight is 09:15 so 07:15 meaning about 5am to leave home.

Sounds like a previous night job for me irrespective of your mode of travel - madness doing a journey of that length with zero margin for error before a non-refundable long-haul flight.

Should have got a Halifax clarity card, Fox spoketh the truth, it saves you soo much whilst travelling.

On the Aus flight front I took QF10 from Heathrow to Dubai yesterday on the A380 and it was pretty good. Not that busy so plenty of space (cattle unfortunately). Qantas food was nice although there was a lack of booze, even when asked for more and the staff were a bit wooden.

Good enough for 6+ hrs.

Got offered the chance to bid on an upgrade to business class!

Awesome! :D

Had a look.... business class is next class up from economy then first class at top.

Bargain!

Only min £540 on the London-Abu Dhabi leg! And about £2500 full way there and back!!

AND THAT'S MINUMUM BID!!!

Just got back from Australia having used my Clarity Card the whole time. Couldn't been easier. There's ATMs everywhere including the outback and they accept cards everywhere. Over the 2 months spent there two of us put about £8000 on the same card. Interest came to less than the £5 credit each month for spending over £300.

The Clarity is absolutely amazing, I have no idea why people continue to waste time and money with those prepay cards or taking loads of physical cash. I am currently in Canada with mine, I took zero dollars with me :D

I went with Emirates, stopping in Abu Dhabi. From memory, London to Abu Dhabi was about 9 hours, I had a 2 hour stopover, then Abu Dhabi to Sydney was about 13/14 hours. That last leg was a killer.

If you're only going for a couple of weeks I probably wouldn't bother with a 2-day stop-over as others have suggested, but that's just me.

EDIT: oops, didn't realise this was an old(ish) thread and the OP had already sorted everything!

Agreed! Just a shame there isn't a Visa equivalent. MasterCard isn't as accepted as you may think outside developed countries.

Any credit or debit card has those benefits.

You didn't state that in your 'benefit' post.

Anyway you can't get one if you already have a Halifax card which is fail

That's my point. Any credit/debit card will allow you to take zero cash! Hardly an 'absolutely amazing' thing exclusive to clarity that you indicated!

I never take cash to Russia. They even take VISA card there despite all the issues and sanctions going on.

1 word - AWESOME!

Hell of an interesting holiday... lost case when I got there.... shot a .44 magnum hitting bullseye at 18m!)... visited Freemantle prison/markets, watched dolphins, sea lions, penguins, whales, cycled to a harbour, visited bell tower, lucky shag pub, Kings Park and some other stuff.

$1000 lasted about a week! lol Then C/C had to come out and get used - A LOT! lol

Never facied oz because of the flights. I am bad flyer anyway. I would have to take a year off and do a few stops along the way.

From friends that have traveled taking a 2 - 3 stop over half way helps
