Landlord opened all our post

was the point I broke and decided to take highly illegal action.

But had a highly appropriate reason! Therefore you were working within the law.

OP, maybe her pasty want's banging? idk.

Does she wear yellow and black and insist on being call 'Queeny?'

Maybe her letterbox flirtations will lead to your/her future offspring to be nuked from high orbit?

Consult the chocolate starfish and you will know. My dad does it for a living.

Sounds like landlord was just retarded; suspect they genuinely thought they were being helpful and didn't have a clue it might cause insult (and probably thought it was what OP wanted them to do with the post-forwarding).

Can't imagine they'd have forwarded it on opened if they had thought it was wrong, or illegal, to open it.

Annoying though it is, I would reckon it to be pretty harsh if you took the legal option on this; think of the implications for them. Of course, you know the landlord better than I; if they make a habit of this sort if intrusion, then maybe they deserve some legal consequence.

Tell the landlord on a payphone "Unless Elizabeth makes an appearance in my bank account I'll be reporting you for opening what may or may not have belonged to me, kapeesh?!"

If you try and press charges and throw them under the bus, i would expect the landlord to report you as a problem tenant on all future rentals. With the amount of databases out there now for bad tenants, would it really be wise to seek revenge over such a minor issue ?

Just pay your 25quid and have your mail redirected.

What is she going to report them for though? The landlord is in the wrong, MrMoon hasn't done anything wrong/

Does it matter ? Landlord wouldn't be lying if he said, reported us to the police for 'accidently' opening mail.

If a future landlord doing a tenant search came across that, they'd run a mile !

Just moved about two weeks ago, gave old landlord our forwarding address. Find today that she has opened all our post and put it in one envelope. Now there were some financial statements and stuff like that which weren't updated until recently. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to open mail not addressed to you and I'm now concerned about identity fraud.

Is it worth pursuing further?

Report it.

Report it.

Even if its cutting off his own nose to spite his face ?

OK so he'll get a little satisfaction, but as a result he'll probably end up losing a lot because of it.

What does he gain by reporting it other than a little satisfaction ?

What does he potentially lose?

Simply not worth it if you ask me. Ask them politely to not open their mail again, pay the 25quid have it redirected and get on with your life.

Otherwise accept the small battle that will ensue.
