So my little cousin is looking for a PC build, which will be used mostly for gaming and internets.

He keeps sending me links to some eBay specials, which seem good enough. But them being Matx and I can imagine the RAM being super nasty along with the motherboard and PSU.

He doesn't need a k+m/monitor or windows.

My last build was cheaper than this, but I used some spare parts kicking around along with a case. So not sure how possible this is?!

I dont think you can beat the rig above, Pentium K is good unless he is prepared to go used that will be it. Although the case will be nasty and dusty.

WOW!

Amazing. Thanks.

Would upping the budget a little see much more FPS. Just got back to me saying he wouldn't mind spending £400...?

why don't you shop around for deals on the MM? you'd get so much more for your £££ that way.

but if you must buy it new...on a £400 budget, this is my 2p:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 270 TurboDUO 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £109.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01) £62.99
1 x Seagate SSHD ST500LM000 500GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM £49.99
1 x Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £49.99
1 x Asus H81M-E Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £39.95
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046-UK) £34.99
1 x Zalman T3 Micro -ATX Case USB 3.0 - Black £20.99
1 x Raijintek Aidos Direct Contact CPU Cooler - Black £14.99
1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £13.49
Total : £406.97 (includes shipping : £8.00).

aftermarket heatsink included for oc-ing straight away.
sshd instead of a standard hdd for snappier machine
added an optical drive for completion

if you wanna get the ram from the MM, that'll easily shave £20 off the price
also could save £10 or so getting the same cpu 2nd hand
and with the extra £30 from those 2nd hand parts, you could get a 2nd hand 7950/280(x) 2nd hand which would blow the 270 out of the water, performance-wise
also instead of the sshd, you could get a 2nd hand 256gb ssd from the MM for the same price
same with the psu - a 500w psu from the MM for around the same price as the corsair cx430

At £406 it is possible to have an amd fx6300 build with 8gb ram, r9 270, 120gb ssd, 500w bronze psu. I'd post a basket but I'm on the ipad.

lol where about in Scotland are you based Begbie? I sent you a pm. Although the rumor is they are voting no so i think you can still get one hasle free. Although it could end up making prices soar as well. :o

Thanks again, that looks great!

I agree and if it was myself it would be. With it being my little cousin and if anything goes wrong it would be a pain and I would feel responsible. He's also only 15 and doesn't (obviously) have much disposable income to replace with the 'chance' on 2nd hand parts. Brand new will give him warrenty and me peace of mind he won't bug me all the time :p

Well, spending £15 on a cooler will work wonders when you overclock the CPU - they really are excellent budget gaming chips when overclocked.
