Any confirmation on performance relating to drops in PvP?
I'm almost always 1st palce by miles and I never get anything.

We spent an hour doing 3v3 last night on chat and we dominated every game 5000-2000 or so and I was double the kills, half the deaths of my mates. They were getting loot thrown at them and in 6-7 games I got 1 crappy blue cloak...

2 matches this morning the same in control, nothing at all yet the bottom 3 all got 2 items each!

I'm Lvl 26 now finally so can look to get a raid going. Could get to Lvl 27 with current gear I just need materials to level them up. Need loads of those Shards so guess I'll have to farm the cave to get legendaries to dismantle. Need about 60 or so at least and that's just with 1 exotic and 1 legendary armour. Will be another 40 or so when I get 2 more legendary armour pieces...yikes.

We tried the raid with 3 of us last night...impossible! lol.
Keeps just spawning enemies who then capture the zones the second you leave. I managed to hold off myself against 3 waves but couldn't keep it up I guess you need 2 people at each capture location to hold them down long enough to progress.

I don't believe that it has anything to do with individual performance at all. I've seen people basically be AFK the entire the (or just die a lot) and still get a purple engram!

It's just RNG hell for the drops as far as I can tell :(

supposedly luck!

dont do much PvP but I'm still waiting for my first purple drop and I'm level 24. I would have hoped I would have had something decent drop by now!

Has anyone else been farming the cave, and then it comes up saying 'the enemies are turning against each other' (or similar - can't remember exactly) and then it just spawns seemingly endless waves of wizards and knights?

Dat cave is so good though, especially as you normally get a couple of public events in that area (had 3 in a row yesterday)

ahaha - I crapped em when that happened to me! My first visit to 'the cave' and I was running around like a headless chicken lol.

Managed to get one decent blue piece of armour from that cave after about 3 1 hour runs. Not impressed. Think I'll stick to strikes!

Yup, great fun when that happens :) Quite a few of the waves spawn in the farming cave so you can go stand right in the entrance and just mow them all down before they even get out :D You just need a few people watching you back as enemies spawn elsewhere too.

I'm stuck on resources now! I think I need to start doing the weekly nightmare strikes or whatever they are. Need a decent group to take on that though it is hard enough doing them at level 22 with modifiers.

Some randomer invited me to him doing the weekly level 22 strike at 21 and his friend 27 I had to do a solo revive run on them 4 times! With the boss under 10% HP X.x Luckily we managed it first try but man people need to learn to kite away from bad guys when they spawn :D

I think I mainly need crucible marks now to get gear but the PvP grind is too much for me to take! I do find it strange how no one actually seems "good" at them game and in that I mean I see one player absolutely dominate the game with 2x more kills than anyone else, then in the next game we get match-made again and they are 3rd-4th with a low score :o Seems like MP is very much based on momentum.

There is an easy way to do the strike boss, if you all stand in the area to the left of the entrance door.. With the rocks.. Then clear the guys as they come to you and then clear the first wave.. Then no others will attack. They will spawn but won't come to you... Therefore allowing you do deal damage to the boss without any issues :)

By performance I mean the worse people do the more drops they seem to get. lol.

I think I'm just really unlucky. So far in all my hours I've found 5 purple engrams that turned into purple items...great...but ALL were rocket launchers!!! Every single one of my purple engrams has been a heavy weapon one.

I want to try the weekly nightfall stuff as soon as I hit Lvl 27 like. 2 level difference and the game buffs enemies and reduces your damage so pointless really.
Also have other 2 classes at lvl 20/21 now so I need to do the weekly heroic with each character - at least I can just swap my guns out so I have decent weapons each run.

So if anyone wants to do the weekly tonight before it resets, I'm going to run it twice!
I want those 6 strange coins plus another 9 when the reset comes in - so can buy some good stuff at the vendor this weekend.

As marks are not shared I'm just going for strange coins/notes of light for 2 classes and just using marks on my Hunter who is my main.
Got about 50 motes of light though so they are really easy to come by just by gaining XP. Shame other things are a lot more grindy!!

I literally haven't had a legendary drop, it's a **** take.

I've had 5 legendary items from legendary engrams. In total i've found over 15 of them, so you can expect only 1 in 4 on average to actually give you something legendary, and then there's a chance you get something for the wrong class from them.

Moral of the story is - grind the bounties , patrol missions and strikes to get your vanguard rank and vanguard marks up - and buy them form the sellers

No random frustration here, just plain old grind. Which is the only way to get decent gear in MMO style games.

in my limited experience of playing pvp when i did really well i got nothing. if i had a bad round i got nothing. so definitely random

everything in this game is random. The loot drops, the contents of your engrams. Its all based on random number generators.

your wasting your time. No one area is better than other. Everything is random.

The only way to get engrams from drops is just to kill lots of stuff. Doesn't matter what stuff, or where, or what rank it is, just kill it and you'll get drops.

Alternatively, did you know the loot drops even if you don't kill. Go and find the loot cave and stand with the crowd that usually accumates around that cave. You have just as much of a chance of getting a legandary engram as the people who make the kills, even if you don't actually kill yourself. This is due to the "assist" scheme in Destinry which credits you with others kills, even if you didn't fire a shot, just by being around them.

I find the ultimate method is just to sit down on the floor and watch. For added lols do you know that any blue or legendary engrams that drop "for you" will automatically get sent to the post master even if you don't pick them up. As long as you stand next to the loot cave farmers, you can collect blue and purple engrams for absolutely no effort. You don't even need to pick them up.

You won't get XP this way, but it proves perfectly just how random all this stuff is. Take all that you have learnt from playing COD, Battlefield and most other FPS types games and throw it out of the window. This game is much more a MMO.

I do wish they'd make it so legendary engrams won't decode into green items or even blue too, at least blue items that are level 20. Seeing that actually getting a legendary engram is very rare.

I can see why people get frustrated, myself included, getting nothing decent. I've had maybe one or two drop from enemies and a couple of others from the gift packs you get when ranking the engram bloke up. Luckily I got decent sniper rifle yesterday and I bought shadow price which is a top rifle, especially with the armour piercing rounds.

Is there an idle timer? Just wondering if I say put Destiny on before work and left my character standing near the cave (assuming there is a steady flow of players farming the cave), would I be able to leave it on all day? Or do you get kicked after a certain time of inactivity, and if I was kicked, would all the loot be sent to the postmaster?

All rare and legendary items will be sent to him.
