Is there an idle timer? Just wondering if I say put Destiny on before work and left my character standing near the cave (assuming there is a steady flow of players farming the cave), would I be able to leave it on all day? Or do you get kicked after a certain time of inactivity, and if I was kicked, would all the loot be sent to the postmaster?

Yup

You will get kicked out after a while. But that's usually more than enough time to say , go and do the washing up, make the beds, all whilst earning engrams like I did yesterday :D

Come back after one chore, jump up and down and run around a bit to reset the idle timer and carry on ...

I swear I never get anything from PvP, level 13 and even if I'm top 2 nothing :/

This is an MMO. Not Halo.

Your rewards have nothing to do with what rank you finish or how many kills you got. Merely being near players that kill others or killing others youself gets you the same chance of loot as everybody else. And its all randomly generated. Think of the crucible as PVP in warcraft or borderlands, rather than a match of Halo.

If I could get remote play to work on my Vita at work, I could be grinding loot all day with just a few wiggles of my knob!

e: that sounded different in my head..

Vita remote play would be ideal.

Just need to make yourself move around a bit to keep the idle timer from ticking down.

Falls apart if your loot horders go away though. It needs a group of hardcore players to stick at it for you. Most don't usually stick it for more than an hour.

I bought this on Sat, I wish I had bought this sooner, it's epic!!!! Only level 13, I find myself mainly doing PvP, is there a quick way to level? I've gone as the Titan are they any good?

quickest way to level is completing story missions and bounties.

hunters are best class for crucible PvP due to having the fastest movement speed and strong super powers.

iron banner - titans might be good (if their armor bonus gets taken in to account)

got to level 20 and don't really understand the light levelling after that, I get a piece of armour with light and it's lower stats than the piece I have on so I don't want to swap.
still not really got any decent stuff yet, best weapon so far is a pulse rifle a stranger gave me.
One thing I did notice this morning is there's 2 sets of ability, I was wondering how people are making a dome shield and it's in the second tab.

Once you get to level 20 the actual resist ability starts to become meaningless

The most important stat is light, because the more light you have the higher you rank is, the higher rank you are the better raids and strikes you can go on which grant more rewards such as marks and reputation which you can use to buy better gear.

The Dome shield you see is the "defender" subclass for Titan. Its their special.

The best way to start getting decent stuff is to grind the patrol missions, the bounties and the strikes to get your vanguard rank up and get vanguard marks. Once you're vanguard rank 2 you can start buying legendary armour. 65 marks for one piece of armor, and you can earn up to 100 per week. For those frustrated with engrams, this is the way to go.

that dome shield, when your in it can you shoot from inside it?or does it block all fire in and out?

As somebody kept placing one in front of me and some others when we were farming the cave, I think he was just being a......

You can't shoot outside when in it.

You have to run outside of it, get your shots off, then retreat back in quickly to reload. Its portable cover effectively.

Really don't see how people can bear to farm that cave.

I gave it a try and got bored within 2 minutes. You literally just stand there, aim and fire every so often so you have to sit there and pay attention the whole time...

yeah, I have tried it for an hour tops, not bothering anymore.

Although I did find a lot of public events spawn in that location which is good.

I've pretty much stopped farming now. After playing a couple of matches in PVP and doing the strike playlists I've already had significantly more loot. Farming is pretty good for leveling up gear and classes, but the loot isn't really all that great at all.

I just had an hour whilst on my lunch, (I love working from home).

I found an epic engram. I went to the Cryptarch and got Epic Gauntlets :) First time ever!

I was in the Ishtar Commons for one of today's Dailies and the event came up about them attacking each other, I went into the farthest right room on the Vex side and a Goblin spawned every second. As quick as I punched him another replaced him. This went on for a couple of minutes and at the end was a huge pile of Goblins...and loot :)

Awesome.

What planet is this, you say it was a one of the daily heroic missions?

Gonna give this a go tonight and tomorrow day time, I think you'd have to be careful with the world war that seems to randomly erupt outside of the cave though.

It is indeed on Venus. It is just one of today's bounties. I do them everyday to get the Vanguard rep and it is more interesting than farming. To be honest, I ran into the room to recover some health as it was all getting mad outside, then had a 2 minute punchfest. Which helped as one of the other dailies is to kill so many with a melee attack :)
