Replacement for Yaris - £10k

50 miles per day (working week) and then some driving on the weekends...! :)

OK, so I think that a focus seems to be the hands down winner...what spec is reasonable for my money? Sorry for so many questions...

You should be able to get a decent Titanium specced Focus for that. I believe that's the trim level you want, it comes with many bells and a decent assortment of whistles. :)

From looking I can easily find 1.6 petrol Focus Titaniums in budget. I'm not sure if you were fussed about having the extra poke of the 1.6T? (I'm guessing not). There's also the option of the two 1.0T engines - both very decent, but newer.

You'll get a new Audi A3 diesel for you monthly budget pretty easily. Get on Drive the deal for your discount and then head to you local dealer. My mate was only £250 per month (on PCP) in his A3.

Should manage £2-3k off it, and get the costs down a bit. (For reference every grand is worth approximately £30 per month).

Or £10k should get you a reasonably nice one, albeit a few years old by now.

A little OT but how is a 9 year old Yaris on it's last legs?!

I work(ed) in some very rough areas so the bodywork is in a bad way; clutch is on its way out; brakes are in need of work and 2 slow punctures.

Could save it, I think, but as I've moved jobs to somewhere less rough, I think it's time to get something else.

I think I've found a pretty good deal:

2012 Focus Titanium, 20k miles, £11k.

I still like the A3's but for my budget it doesn't seem the most sensible choice!

You think? A worn clutch and brakes and a couple of punctures is not "on it's last legs" :p. I'd see how much it would cost to fix it (£500?) before spending £11k... unless you just want a new car, in which case I'd still fix it because it'll be worth more to sell against the new car.

Yes, you are right, but @ 101000 miles on the clock, and with all the stuff that needs doing, it is just a hassle! :o

You can get a nice 1.4 SE golf for that. I sold me 1.4 TFSI SE which was a 2011 car with 20 something k on the clock for £9200.
