iPhone 6+ bendgate issue.

given the average size of the 6 & 6+ is 6 inch high and 7mm thick in a pair of jeans in which would generate some sort of heat in which we all know that heat on any metal /plastic will soften it is physics. one would guess something will give. same principal if one to hold with warm hands and force to bend in the middle of an item it is all down to the same word physics

I can put my LG G Pad in my pocket, sit down on my chair with crossed legs and nothing happens to it, who though only using aluminium was a good idea?

If I remember correctly, Google pays $1 per thousand views so he made $40K from snapping his phone... no wonder we're seeing a number of people just snapping a thousand pound phone in half.

To take a different example...

The space shuttle has (had :( poor little thing) heat tiles that cover the bottom of the plane... You could break these quite easily, but they do the job of returning the orbiter to earth at stupidly high speeds and cope with the immense heat. However, they are fragile as ****. Now they do the purpose they are designed for, but can be easily broken when something hits them... The point I'm getting at is they are designed for one use and small force can cause them damage (the opposite of the iPhone but same kind of applied - i.e. it can deal with what it is designed for, in this case - yes).

The question is, can the iPhone6 do what it is designed for (last 1-2+ years) and work under normal conditions? Not these abstract conditions where excessive force is applied - for this, only time will be a decider and the number of claims in 2+ months will need to be looked at to see if this is isolated or widespread.

Edit: Just to add... very dubious of youtube videos because there is a conflict of interest - they will benefit financially from the bending of the iPhone. Before anyone jumps down my throat for comparing a space shuttle to an iPhone... I just want more real world evidence that its design flaw, not a manufacturing flaw. I couldn't care less about the iPhone 6... If there is a problem, it'll be resolved by the time I am ready to upgrade with the 6S :p

These numbers mean nothing in real life... Having that amount of pressure focussed across the width of the phone is meaningless (It can give some indication, I'll grant you that). But who here has a pointy back side capable of exerting that force across the width of a single plane on the iPhone 6 (which is how they tested it).
