Am I right in saying the only way to buy a legendary weapon is through Crucible Marks, or that Xur guy?

I've saved up enough Vanguard Marks for most items, but there doesn't seem to be any guns.

the vanguard dealer in the ship yard sells guns, have to be rank 3 and they cost 150 marks each :)

This.

You don't have to do the PVP stuff to get legendary weapons. He's just down from the shipwright.

I've played up to level 14 now and thought I would give my impressions of the game.

Its mainly a rehash of what I said during beta in each mission is essentially following the same formula - tramp through a bit of map with sparsely populated enemies, enter a smaller area filled with a lot of enemies with no respawning, kill horde, kill boss, rinse and repeat. This game would have benefited from different things (maybe some kind of space/vehicle combat, some kind of puzzle element).

The missions on each planet are all set in slightly different parts of the same location (often landing in exactly the same spot), which all feel lifeless. There needed to have been more variety here as whilst the idea of going to different planets seems like a big one the way it has been executed seems very small.

I am confused by the character class system. In the beta I played as a Titan for the main game I am a Warlock. I can't see what being a Warlock adds to the game, it doesn't seem to thus far have unlocked anything that allows me to take a different approach to completing missions. Without knowing anything about the class before I picked it I was hoping to be able to hurl lightening bolts around or something.

I have enjoyed aspects of the Crucible but found it difficult as a lower level player to enjoy a lot of matches. Whilst level advantages have been disabled all abilities and weapon perks still work so I find myself getting hacked to pieces with swords by invisible players. I think this would have worked better if pvp was sorted by a level range because at the moment it can be very frustrating.

I think there is a lot to like in the game but there are ultimately a lot of things missing and on some levels it seems half finished which damages the overall experience.

I'm level 23 now and been enjoying it, I agree pve is pretty much the same thing thru out however it is quite good with friends.

Pvp definitely does have level, or gear advantages. (I think giving stock load outs in one pvp playlist might be a good idea)

If anyone wants to play later tonight add gamertag in sig.

I tried the crucible again last night now I'm level 26 with decent gear.

I spawned and died within a few seconds. Tried again and the same.

Think I will give that a miss....:)

Thanks to seize2 and SirBazzalot who got me my first legendary items (chest and helm) on the Queens Bounty Earth mission. Shortly afterwards I got my first legendary engram which gave me another legendary helmet, oh well can't complain since I went from level 21 to 24 in the space of an hour :)

You are welcome. That rare hand cannon I used really helps. Infact I seem to be using it all the time in PVE. On or two headshots kills everything without a shield.

The crucible is terrible compared to Halo 2.

I just want to know where this $500 million went tbh, it feels like a $50 million game at best. It's basically a grind fest and if you find a easy quick way to level up it gets patched.

I was watching that vault of glass raid and it's basically you teleport into the middle of the map, one guy drops a shield you all shoot boss from inside the shield for 15 seconds, then teleport out before killing some other guys then teleporting back in one guy dropping a shield whilst you all shoot the boss from inside the shield for 15 seconds before jumping back out again.

Tedious, tedious stuff and they can one shot kill you and their life bar takes 2+ hours to deplete so that's all you do for 2+ hours.

Then you rage as someone loses concentration towards the end and ends up getting the whole team killed and you have to start again.

Haven't been too active posting in here, though I do read all posts often. Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

Currently 2 Days and 5 Hours progress. I decided to stick with a Titan and max out both sub-classes. Now I'm maxed out, I'm trying to decide which class I should try next; Hunter or Warlock.

I've purposely waited until I unlocked Vanguard Level 3 so I can buy goodies from the Vanguard Store and transfer them over to my next character.

Had a few good games with some of you recently.

Add me on PSN if you haven't already, I'm an active player.

Level 26 Titan - currently rocking the defence class which is great for strikes

My First Exotic - Didn't particularly use hand cannons but have grown to love this bad boy

My Second Exotic - Won through the exotic bounty, not particularly impressed and regret my choice

First thing I bought when I hit Vanguard Level 3 - this thing has people split, personally I'm loving it and think once it's maxed out it will be a beast

So, next, I'm looking for a good fusion rifle to try out as thats another weapon class I've not really used, typically sticking to sniper for PvE and shotgun for PvP.

Any opinions on what class I should pick next after spending my full career with a Titan?

I do have this tucked away, but am not going to let it force my choice of class

Anyway - add me if you havent already guys. I'm currently thinking about buying a headset to speak to you guys and help play more as a team during those hard weeklies.

Agreed and then some.

Even our little game lastnight on the weekly just showed the tedium, having to hide up in the cave to kill that bloody nexus from above. I've tried that game several times and never thought to do that, always being beaten by the hordes that spawn. So thanks for that ;)

I told you several times to stay up there as we progressed through the level and you jumped down :o

You soon realised your mistake though :p

Far far easier to do it that way, but still a PITA with those things spawning behind you and you having to ration ammo. I also asked if any of you had a decent sniper but nobody really brought one, it's good for one guy to have to headshot the guys below to progress faster.

I accidentally dismantled my decent sniper last week, been trying to find a rare one ever since with no luck

Thanks. Just found him. So you need to take off any FWC or Dead Orbit badges in order to continue to get Vanguard Rep, right, or does Vanguard rep accrue even if you're getting faction rep? This game is complicated!

If you have a faction class item everything from PvE and PvP go towards it. Right now the only special thing is Queens bounties which go towards your Queens rep irrelevant what class item you wear

Just make sure you are wearing the right one when you hand in bounties as those are the things that get you decent rep...

Me too.

The desire to make this inclusive for the halo fans has made the classes feel very similar. They all have access to the same weapons, similar melee, grenades etc..

The only real difference is the supers.

Warlocks shouldn't be using weapons at all and should be shooting fire bolts and lightening.

The auto and heavy weapons should be Titan only.

But then the PvP wouldn't feel like Halo which is why it has the same classless feel as Halo that was also a classless game.

There was no need to use that method, its simply an exploit to make it easier(which I also hope they remove). The first time I completed the nightfall this week(along with lv27,lv26) I did it the correct way, we wiped 5 times but we got there in the end. Since then I've been asked to do it a bunch more times so I just used the exploit after that as I cant be doing with the frustration for no reward. The weekly is no different, in fact its a hell of a lot easier as you don't have to start over every time the team wipes. At the end of the day the weekly and nightfall challenges are meant to be hard, you shouldn't just be able to blaze through them on your first attempt.

The patches were about removing tedious ways to conveniently gain loot. You could even do it with a bunch of guys and take it in 'shifts', it was a joke and needed removing. After 20 I would rather do strikes/pvp to level 24. With the queens missions, I would only need 130 marks in total to potentially get to lv28(lv27 is desirable for all current content imo), assuming I didn't buy anything from Xur. This game was always going to be a bit of a grind and I don't mind that. I've played a few MMO's before this and the grind in this game is tame by comparison.

I don't know what raid you were watching but the last encounter takes around 6 minutes, not 2 hours. I wouldn't even say there were any frustrating encounters. As long as everyone knows what they are doing and are reasonably competent they will complete it.

I think you miss the point that up until level 24 its easy to level up without trying or thinking what you are doing as level 20 rare drops are plentiful.

Its when that normal grind (what effort you put in comes out) changes to either luck on getting legendary drops or conscious changes in how you play the game to maximise the chances of buying legendaries through marks. If you haven't had the forethought to ensure you have the right rep level or looked into what you want to buy it can be a pain in the ass falling over that revelation.

I got stuck at level 24 once I fully upgraded all my level 20 rares so can appreciate that people start wondering where the fun went and left frustration. Its a very distinct change that some just won't like and some will endure for the eventual benefits.

ps3ud0

24 is where i am at now, ive only recently found out about the queens missions, ive done all the available bounty's and im no where near close to being able to buy anything queen based, and ive spent the last few days doing vanguard bounty's and some strikes and im still no where near enough vanguard rep to buy the vanguard Armour. isit just a case of grinding every single day or am i missing something? seems like you need to put in crap loads of hours to get past level 24 or like i say is there something im missing that i should be doing? the vanguard strikes reward me the most 25 rep and i need like 1500 or so to get the gear wtf surely im missing something?
