So isn't anybody going to comment on my little theory about the 380X?
You are correct of course but besides the shroud there is noting to go on.

I thought that too until I realized if Nvidia gave us the real top end new architecture first at 970 price's without all this messing then consumers would be getting great value straight away and those who choose Amd or Nvidia or would go for either end up more winners than the way it has been the last few gens. Maybe I expect more as I don't change cards everytime something new appears just to play with it.![]()
I like GPUs and i also like new but i dont like the prices hence why have have not bought anything since the 7950s and they were meant to be only temporary stop gaps, am also willing to pay over the odds when something impresses me enough and i have not had that since the 2 4GB 5970's that i had.
And no it isn't fact at all. The 8800 Ultra was launched in 2007 and cost $829 and the cut down version (the 8800GTX) cost a whopping $600. In todays prices, these new 980s and 970s seem cheap in comparison.
So seeing how launches go and what people are happy to pay, this seems to have some relevance to back up my point.
No harm in that mate, I mean any GPU from the past 3 years is arguably good enough to play the latest games at 1080P at decent settings. There really isn't a need to upgrade every 6-12 months like some of us do. Each to their own. Some people like the latest some people just happily drop a few settings and save the money.
People are happy to pay because gregarious Nvidia supporters are so blind/ignorant to the Nvidia milking going on.

How is it milking if nvidia's "midrange" cards keep besting AMD's top efforts and they have nothing to respond with?
If AMD would pull their finger out and release a new card once in a while then nvidia pricing would be kept under control

Or maybe someone in the market for a new GPU spots the GTX 970 and thinks, ooh look that competes with the R9 290X in performance yet only uses about half the power consumption, it's cheaper as well, and ooh look full Direct X12 support and some nice Nvidia features like DSR and Physx, that Physx might be nice in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, Project CARS, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Witcher 3 games
It's a good performer and a good price, surprisingly people will pay for that.. AMD launched the 7970 @ £420+ same price as GTX 980, were you up in arms about the 7970 as well? Or is it just Nvidia GPU's that your angry about?
AMD will launch something soon and no doubt it will be a bit faster and maybe a bit cheaper and normal forum Nvidia hating can resume.. There's really not much to moan about the 9XX series, good GPU's good prices. If you don't like em, don't buy em.
That wasn't the point of the post to greg.
I agree whole heartedly with what you are saying with why they are buying it.
I went mental at the 7970 pricing actually, and got dogs of stick from AMD users because I slated the **** out of the pricing(rroff might remember the arguments I got into), it should have been £300-£350 max, I bought it as soon as it hit £300.
Titan is still a rocking card.
You'd know if you'd ever used one. Here's a leg to stand on.
Now hop along.
If AMDS spent half as much on R&D on Hawaii as they did R&D maybe they'd price the 290x further out of your reach as well.

Go home Tommy, you're drunk.
Hows it different from a 780?
How much did AMD spend on Hawaii?
Competition is not the full equation, what people are willing to pay also is taken into account.Yes competition is what drives prices down
Not an awful lot I would hope given the initial outcome.
Undisclosed TDP, cheap reference cooling, cheap IC, reference PCB Tahiti mockups. And probably more unbeknown to myself.
You can call me what you want, I just don't stand for the dribble that comes out of your mouth Tommy. The only thing poisonous here is your ignorance buddy.

Coincidently, Nvidia's pricing enabled AMD to do with the 290 series what they couldn't achieve with the 79 series-it enabled them to successfully launch the 290X@$549.![]()
Ah ok fair enough, pricing on GPU's has always been high, even back as far as the 8800GTX days. It's an expensive industry, R&D cost alone, I think Nvidia's 9XX prices are fair at launch, tbh it's up to AMD to launch something now and stir up the market.
I like AMD and Nvidia stuff, and think competition is good, we need AMD to be competitive and launch something decent. I'm sure they will, just a question of how long will it take them?
For most people there is no reason to look beyond the GTX 970, the price VS performance is excellent. Not much to moan about imho, come on AMD your move...
GTX Titan followers subsidising the reference 780 cooler Price? ^^^^
What does undesclosed TDP have to do with R&D even if it is, which i don't think it is, its 300 Watts is it not?
Cheap IC? what wrong with the PCB? which well known bencher was it that said AMD PCB's could handle more volts than Nvidia's?
AMD reference PCB's are some of the best from any brand or vendor.
You haven't answered my question, what is the GTX titan justifies its £450 price premium over the 780?
