Middle Earth TWIMTBP are NVidia wasting my time and money.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but from what I recall, TWIMTBP titles ALWAYS seem to have poor performance for multi-GPUs (or worse than single GPU in quite a lot of situations)?

I recall people mentioning "crossfire is broken" in TWIMTBP titles, and were greeted with responses of "SLI ain't working properly neither" quite a few times. Knowing SLI is not working neither isn't exactly gonna help brighten up AMD's users' day, as the fundamentally issue is not about AMD vs Nvidia, but just users wanting to get the performance that they should be getting.

I mean it's been a ongoing issue that's been around for so long, but are there any sigh or has Nvidia got any plan in-placed for addressing this?

Am I the only person who can play this game without any problems? Turn AO to High from Ultra and the game runs like a dream.

Yesterday I downloaded Middle Earth to see how it ran on my 4 290Xs and it was buggy and total rubbish performance wise with negative scaling on the GPUs.

Hi Kaapstad,

Regarding 290X performance, try my custom crossfire profile below. I managed to beat the AFR friendly score i posted yesterday and i did it with greatly reduced menu flickering as well. Scaling was 99% for parts of the benchmark over two gpus.

1. Add the Shadow Of Mordor profile to CCC.
2. Select Use AMD Pre-Defined profile
3. Type in Lost and then select Lost Planet 2 profile.
4. Click save and play!

Nah, runs sweet for me at 1440P with all cards running. Even 1 card is enough and I did give instructions on how to enable SLI but some people don't like/want to fiddle (fair play) and being a TWIMTBP title, nVidia really should have had an SLI profile.

Also with SLI enabled, there is no flickering menu? Is that an AMD thing?

Defence stance doesn't take Kaaps pain away greg. ;)

Why don't you go away lol.

Kaap just run F.E.A.R 3 SLI bits, took all of 2 seconds and I get good scaling. Nvidia have dropped the ball on a couple of titles recently but you just sound like you're having a bad morning.

It's obvious there is a communication breakdown with a lot of these firms as the same thing happens with AMD Titles time after time also with regards to scaling issues and profiles.

A lot of things annoy me but this isn't really one of them.

Thanks for posting this Kaapstad. I will be sure to stay away for
4 way/quad sli in the future, given that Nvidia doesn't really support it, and probably never will. But, this also makes me wonder about three way sli? May be just sli is the way to go with Nvidia....hmmm..lol

If this rant was gospel I'm sure many would agree with you. Thankfully the truth is that SLI scaling is normally pretty good and I can assure you three cards scale just fine, even in this very game of all things. After spending 3 minutes in NVInspector applying the appropriate SLI bit, I get 80-90% scaling across all three cards with a 60FPS cap.

And as if by pure internet magic, your judgement is skewed further

Don't know much about gospel or rants, as I subscribe to neither. But, I do like to question my own decisions and thought process, so that I can be my own fair critic... Lol

What do you mean by cap at 60? Why not not higher?

Running lovely on a GTX 980 @ 1440P. Very high settings, does anybody know if you install the texture pack does it only upgrade ultra mode? Or will you get better textures @ very high as well?

Because refresh rate. Sorry should have been clearer, you weren't ranting, but the OP was :p

I couldn't notice the difference at 1440P if I am honest Boom but I didn't play much before installing the HD pack in truth, so probably not the best judge.

It does run very very well on a single Titan "Fully maxed" with G-Sync and 1440P. I restored it to run on a single card, as the workaround didn't help with G-Sync smoothness. For those that have a G-Sync monitor, that could be usefull.

So if I'm only using 'very high', it won't make a difference if I install the HD pack or not as they are only used with ultra setting?

I'll try the pack and see what it does run like maxed out, I've read some saying that the 6GB is actually meant for people running ultra at 4K, so ultra with HD might just be ok on 980 4GB @ 1440P.

Only way to find out is to try it, downloading it now, this HD pack is massive !

Not just in the menus, I've heard AMD users say they experienced flickering in game as well. I think that's what Kaap meant by nvidia having worse performance but it wasn't glitchy.

He as a point, if a game is an Nvidia title a Gameworks title when both nvidia and dev work closely with the development you expect this to work.

Even amd don't have a driver released yet and there killing performance and it's not because of amd being better or faster is just nvidia drivers are poor in this one.

Gameworks just helps the developer to develop the game and often add in Physx and other NVidia centric technologies for their users.

If anything situations like this this just proves that NVidia aren't using the programme to make games run great on their cards and **** on AMD's as they usually claim.

Although, no doubt once NVidia have released fully optimised drivers and AMD have made their usual token effort we'll get the cries of "it's a Gameworks title NVidia have sabotaged it on AMD" etc.
