ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

:(

He was the only non-muslim in his convoy, the other convoy members have only ever spoken highly about him; talking about how he was always helping others out, slept in his vehicle as he wanted to save money so it could go towards the Syrian people... nicknamed 'Gadget' AFAIK because he was helping/fixing things. Even resulted in some rather more anti-western/extreme UK based clerics appealing directly for this guy's release...

ISIS are utter utter scumbags

I feel utter sickness over this!.... I found out just now, BBC1 News.

The bloke did not deserve this.... he really did not deserve this!

None of them deserved it tho did they. It's not like he's any more or less deserving of beheading than any of the others.

At this point I'm really confused as to what ISIS can hope to achieve with these executions.

But then I guess they're called extremists for a reason.

to get the west involved. need some white infidels to kill. its hard to recruit all the other Muslims when you're only killing Muslims.

But we're not going to put boots on the ground, we're going to rain down death from above. Destroy their military hardware and force them to hide in populated areas.

I can't see how that helps them, personally.

I don't think the general public would get behind any party willing to put boots on the ground in the ME, again, so soon. This close to an election? I don't think that would be smart.

you think well have it all cleared up before the next election then?

I just think that any party who commits to putting UK troops on the ground to fight IS before the election is going to have a bad time :p

I still think an Ion Cannon is the way forwards.

I think the public may actually be more supportive of ground troops for this than previous conflicts.

Given the fact that the spread of such a volatile faction endangers the whole of civilisation if they get their hands on the right kit, I can't imagine that any sane person would oppose it.

I do agree, however, that proximity should dictate the proportion of response and resources, especially given the monetary means available to some of the neighbouring regions. If Saudi actually give a damn, let them pay for it.

I wonder what would happen if the world allowed ISIS make their way to within a few hundred, maybe a thousand miles of Israel's borders? It would probably mean the end of the middle east as we know it. Utter carnage.

Eventually ISIS want to conquer all Muslims who don't operate under their "true" caliphate. They want to move into Palestine, destroy Hamas and then annihilate Israel. Israel might let them have a go at Hamas in the first instance, but eventually ISIS would target Israel. Israel is a notoriously twitchy, heavily armed nuclear state. The resulting scrap would be incredibly messy.

It will never be allowed to get to this point, the west and the rest of the middle east will have to step in, properly. These guys are complete nutjobs. They want all of the cake and they want to eat it and they cannot be allowed. There is no place for people like this on the planet. This world is small enough without having to harbour utter scumbags like ISIS.
