Why would it matter to them what console people buy it on? a sale is a sale.

You have failed to take into account other areas of revenue stream.
If I was Microsoft, I wouldn't want to pay top $ for exclusive marketing rights, for Ubi to make a superior version for the competition.

Personally I think SOM has displaced AC anyway, as it's frankly a better game.

Some people don't like to buy inferior versions of stuff so Xbone sales could be hurt by it being a lower resolution (ie. not buying the game at all rather than on another format).

All they're doing now though is antagonising PS4 owners, hopefully there'll be a day one patch like with Black Flag.

Vote with your wallets and spread the word.

Why should PS4 owners not get the best experience. What is stopping it is a couple of lines in a configuration file just to keep a few XB1 owners not boycotting the game.

Well this will backfire and a lot more PS4 owners will now boycott this.

It annoys me that Sony and M$ didn't make the consoles capable of 1080p at 60 from the get go. Clearly they are underpowered as devs can't even squeeze that standard out without sacrificing other visual effects.

I wonder how many years the humble PC has had graphics cards and monitors able to output 1920x1080???

Personally I blame the worst money grabbers : Sony and M$.

Exactly! Assassins Creeds holds very little interest for me personally, but surely it's about the game play rather than the resolution?

Principle. Here we have a dev effectively saying we could make the PS4 1080p, but because we can only get 900p on XB1, we are going to artificially limit the PS4.

If this is allowed to stand, it will just be the beginning of what we can look forward to.

Regarding graphics, tell that to PC gamers.

So why isnt the game limited to 900p on pc? Its deved st the highest resolution, then coded and optimised for consoles.

Thiers nothing more to this, Ubisoft dont want to put the coding work in for optimisation. Simple as that. Theris far bigger games MS would have piad for, even though theirs no previous standing for a oem ever paying a dev company for such a thing.
