Yep, I was never really sure it was true before but now I know it is. Here they love the English, and are quite proud to be anglophiles. They detest Parisians.

Paris != France. If you think France is a hole I'd suggest you need to actually visit it.
 
Too right I'd complain, you can't be doing without air con.

I remember staying at a hotel this summer with busted aircon (only hot) and I was straight down to the desk. I basically resolved it that if they kept me stocked with cold beer and brought up a desk fan I'd forgive it, baring in mind it was a £180 a night room, and I wasn't paying for it. :D

Don't knock Premier Inn, I've always been extremely comfortable staying at one of those.

Why are you staying there 4 nights? Stay one night and if you don't like it then check out early and find a better hotel.
 
Everyone hates Londoners across the UK, Everyone hates Parisians across France.

But all French hate the English :O (apparently)

Let me correct France is a ****hole, I meant Paris. Late night typing and not reading what I typed.

In Paris, the quality of the hotels is pants. I would equate it to a little above b&b on average.

There are a few nice ones, but they are far and few between or cost a fortune.

The rest of France is beautiful.

I think it's a mixed bag. You get some very personable friendly and excellent customer service in France as you do get service utterly devoid of any form of humanity.

however typecasting the whole of France as as ****hole is a little unfair. Heck even in Paris (at least where I go) people are friendly and polite... i.e. walk into a boulangerie and you get a "Bonjour" or a "m'sieus dammes..." as people walk in, and light friendly chit chat. Though I see this as a relative local who obviously has no issues with the language so maybe am treated a little differently. The little bistro owners can be a little gruff, but break through that exterior you end up with a fantastic evening with great company as you plough through your 4th pichet of house red and some fantastic cold cuts and cheese and crusty bread.

That said, I've had awful service in all four corners of the world, but generally the poorer the country the richer the welcome.
 
You booked it through Booking.com - complain to them

They have a contract with the hotel or the hotels Provider, so they can do the leg work for you regarding complaints etc

Source: used to work for a sister company of Booking.com and now work for Laterooms.com :)

Thanks for the tip. To be fair Booking.com are quite good. I arrived at a hotel a couple of months back and Google maps told me it was 9 miles from the airport when Booking.com said it was less than 1 mile. Phoned up and had a rant - turns out Google maps was way out!
The girl was really nice and even called back to make sure I was OK :)
