Question time!

As its my first year back on a bike I've got some queries about setting up my bike for use with a turbo trainer (buying later this month)

At the moment I have a bTwin Triban 3 size 60 frame with 700c 18/25 tyres / tubes http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3...l#anchor_ComponentProductTechnicalInformation

Ideally would i be correct in saying I should be getting a turbo trainer specific tyre / spare tube along with a spare rear wheel so i can chop and change without my road tyres spraying crap all over my house! :p

And can someone recommend some stuff as I'm pretty clueless just now :o

EDIT

Looking at getting the CycleOps Fluid 2 when its back in stock at wiggle.

When you ride past a bus stop and there are people standing there with their arm out, does anyone else get the irresistible urge to give them a high five as you go past?

Thanks for the advice guys, if this is the right size is this over priced or potentially better than the pr7?

I'm sure i've seen that sold for that price new, and it's a lot worse than the Merlin PR7. The Merlin has a decent frame geometry, carbon fork and complete shimano groupset. If you're going to beat it by going used you'll need something with a better frame (generally from a bigger name brand), at least equal fork and i'd say sora groupset.

To get a rough idea for size you can follow this guide, although you should try it first if possible.

Another 40m "in the wind tunnel" as my mrs is referring to my kitchen based turbo lair. 5 minutes warm up, half an hour of doing a minute at high cadence then a minute of rest over and over, then 5 minutes cool down. Knackered now. This better do me some good over the winter!

Yes! I've done it, and I've also said "sorry bus is full" a few times! It does feel like they're trying to stop you haha!

Finally cracked 19mph average on commute home! Lucky with the lights + quite late helped a lot!

Have you looked at the sufferfest videos? They provide a bit more motivation to turbo train.

recommend me a cycling cap, to keep the rain of my glasses please

now that I cant use the Turbo this winter, due to mum and step dad buying exercise bikes to keep in the shed, I have to cycle outside!

Gazebo? :D

When I get a turbo I'll be using it outside as I have no room in the house/garage... I'm fully intending to get a gazebo/build a lean-to if I really get into turbo riding! ;)

Put a big effort into the only segment on my work commute this morning as was stuck behind a guy going slower with lots of traffic for a while before... Think I shaved 2s off my PR (where can you see previous efforts on a segment? Or premium only?) in full wet weather gear (inc rucksack) lol :D

Really expected to place higher than 68th :(
