Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Ahh this game is solo frustrating! Trying to do a assassination mission and end up in a full blown fight withv4 captains + 50 orcs! Any tips? I'm getting mullered at the mo

Depends where you are but a few fire pits that explode and bee hives seems to clear the mobs. Although unless you read the captain weakness tabs you could enrage them!!

The intro and start of the game was good but after that I just feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over. It really isn't a 9/10 game.

I thought the game was deserving of its 9\10 scores but after playing about 4\5 hours it has become repetitive. Each fight is now the same mash of buttons XXXX YY XXXX YY XXX YB rinse and repeat. Oh look a blocker I now get to press the A button yay!

Like every Batman game or AC for the past 4 years :D

Only played for an hour or two yesterday my main gripe is respawn seems way to fast.

I'm about 5.5 hours in and while I wouldn't say the game is 'amazing' I think it's certainly very good.
I really enjoy the fact that the outcome of my actions influences my enemy and doesn't just focus on me and my progression. It's a welcome change for a video game!!

I got killed 4 times by 1 orc having never died to anyone else in the game. He kept ranking up, taunting me for coming back for more and then in the end he challenged his boss to a duel - he got killed! haha.

So that set off a chain reaction - his boss gained power, his position was then filled by someone else - one of his gang who also killed me I think.
At that point the boss created a power struggle with someone else and won, which opened up more positions.

This went on for a few minutes and about 10-12 changes in the enemy ranks!!

So that 1 event of me dying had a major impact. I find that to be really interesting.

It's a system I'd love to see more of and if fleshed out with more detail could be amazing in future releases.

I think my enjoyment is also helped because I never played any AC games.

It's certainly something I'd only play through once but I'm enjoying it. Think I could get 15-20 hours out of it before selling it on.

I believe later on you can send orcs to invade friends games?
I don't have the ability to influence orcs that much yet

I completely agree with everything you've said. I think this is definitely a play through once in 15-20 hours and then never go back to.

I understand why people don't feel like they know what is going on, but if you're struggling just look at the map legend and it should clear up what all the icons over the place mean.

One thing that dissapointed me a bit, and perhaps this is my lack of knowledge of LOTR, is that I was hoping for a game where there were towns and villages with friendly NPC people in it, a bit more like an RPG. This is completely my own fault for not knowing this as I clearly didn't read enough into the game, this is just what I assumed it would be.

I am enjoying it though, but I'm glad I didn't buy it at full price (a friend did, and we game share on Xbox One).

As for the Nemesis system, I LOVE it. Imagine this kind of thing in a game like GTA or something.

You try that against a level 20 orc :p

I just went up against an absolute **** at level 20.... My fault for dying so many times to him. He was immune to executions, finishers, and last chance finishers. More than 4 sword swings, and he over powered you, xxxbxxxx didn't even touch his health bar. And try and jump over him with A and he threw you to the ground.

I was lucky that he was susceptible to ranged combat, but 4 head shots and he wasn't even half way down in energy! An explosive barrel helped me out, As he was tough enough without the gang of orcs he had with him.

I beat him, but it wasnt easy. I have a few high ranked Orcs to challenge, Kinda worried they will all be like that! I can see some raging coming on

I was hoping for a game that captured the atmos of the films, but this just doesn't. It barely feels like it has a LOTR connection.

I am about 14 hours in and around 80% complete. I really do fail to see how people are saying they do not know what to do.... The quests are bloody colour coded...

Yellow - Main Story Line
Red - Nemesis Missions
White - Side quests.

Each have a different Icon as well to say what type of quest they are for each. It is not rocket science.

The game is as easy or as difficult as you make it. If you are too weak to beat something come back to him later or get to the point in the game when you can dominate and cause your Orcs to back stab or assist. The conventional mash buttons till dead or charging head first into a fight will not always work and in fact that is the time I die when I try and take on the world in combat. Besides nothing beats sneaking through a mission or executing a chief in front of his Orcs.

Keeping certain runes for certain situations also helps, I have a rune that has a 30% (ish chance) to dominate the Orcs around the one I dominate. It is hilarious if you combat drain someone and dominate them only to have the surrounding 4-5 Orcs also turn to your side and runes that cause head explosions to cause fear as well as runes that give a percentage change to cause headshots to cause explosions.

Really getting into this now that I have figured things out and got a sense of purpose. Story is good (really, I'm enjoying it)and the voice acting from herores and Orcs alike is like an audiobook, very very good. Controls can be a bit frustrating, but I can live with minor frustrations like that. I have died a fair few times and some of the bosses are now rock hard, bit worried that I'll get my arse handed to me each time!

Graphics in daylight are pretty good too, the draw distance is pretty damn epic as well, can see Orcs pottering around doing their stuff for miles :).

I feel the opposite... think they did a good job. :)

A tip for some - make sure to fast forward time manually.

I've been finding the game really easy to be honest and was just slicing through the ranks to the point where there was only 1-2 alive and it made the map seem a little less interesting when you were not bumping into Captains anymore.

I never thought to fast forward time to fill up the gaps again.

I thought the higher power enemies would offer more of a challenge like. I took out a Power 16 warchief with 1 stealth from above attack and the other 3 I fought head on didn't even hit me and went down in only 3-4 attacks. being surrounded by 3 or 50 doesn't make any difference due to how lenient the counter attack prompt is. It's almost impossible to get hit unless you miss a ranged attack icon and forget to dodge it.

Maybe I have to just keep advancing time to rank up a bunch of the Orcs etc then start playing properly from there to up the challenge. As of now, I'm unsure as to how the humans haven't just took over Mordor because the Orc army is pathetic!! lol

The controls are starting to annoy me. Just like in the AC games I hate having one button that does everything. If I'm low on health I'll try and run away and end up climbing up a wall or vaulting over enemies

Im trading this one in tomorrow while the resale value is high. The graphics arnt great and to me it feels jerky almost as if on the pc say, the graphics settings were too high. Im hoping its just this game and not the fact my last three games on the PS4 were 60fps. It's also for me not very fun and too similar to Assassins Creed, ok to pass sometime but there's plenty of better games I'm having more fun with (Diablo, Last of Us and Metro). Considering Sleeping Dogs, Alien and The Evil Within all just around the corner life is too short to spend 20 or so hours on an (imo) very average game.

Just set it off to trade in on Amazon. About 85% done now so will finish it tonight.
Getting boring towards the end like I must admit but trade-in value is only £10 less than purchase value so certainly got £10 worth from it. can't complain at that.

I deff enjoyed all the captain missions and that system but once I had to go through the story missions that's when I began to get bored. I preferred just going up against the army overall but I soon maxed my power XP before even getting to the 2nd map, making going after captains less worthwhile.

I've just finished this and I have to say the last 2 main boss fights are really poor. I was a bit disappointed after going through all the game trying to find the last boss and for me to defeat him with a qte event.

I actually like the sound of that. So many games I have given up at the end as it gets too hard. I might finish this one.....

I really do suck at gaming......:)

You don't even have to fight him at all, just do a couple of QTE's and you're done. Easiest boss fight ever.
