Do you class swearing as the norm?

I'm just wondering because personally I'm not a fan of it outside of hitting a hammer on my thumb :p, how do you guys feel about swearing in general? is it normal for you within your social circle/family?

No, not in the slightest. Never heard my parents swear.

I try not to (doesn't take much effort as it isn't part of my day to day vocabulary) but most definitely have never sworn at work.

Hammer to the thumb, probably not. Bamboo through the hand, yea air was blue for a moment.

I've told friends before to refrain from blaspheming in front of me more than swearing but understand some can't help it too much. What I have a real issue with though are people that swear (particularly f word) in normal conversation for absolutely no reason - makes them sound unintelligent.

"I went to the **** car to get my **** phone to **** find out it was in my ****pocket all an-****-long."

Swearing is like the High Importance tag for emails on MS Outlook.

Its great to use to emphasize something. But if you apply it to everything then nothing is important and you just look like a fool.

Having worked in the Prison Service and now with the Army it seems very much the norm.

I swear on occasion but generally not at work or around children.

I have told many a mum/dad on the school run to mind their language whilst around my children. The string of expletives I generally get afterwards would make a builder blush.

What bothers me is when people say "*******" or "peed off".

The intent is there, so why not just swear?
