Nexus 6 Rumours and Speculation

Er, for the people whining about Touchwiz, you tried the Note 4? What about the 3 at least? The claims of making it a 'laggy bloated' mess are completely exaggerated. Samsung actually seems to pay attention, as they've been slowly removing some of the so called bloat in the latest Touchwiz, amongst other improvements.

Also, not an expert at rooting here, but can't you just unroot the phone back to stock? What have they done to flip a switch that you can't erase the tracks of? Besides, I'm pretty sure with EU laws Samsung would have a hard time proving that you caused a hardware fault because it was rooted, so the warranty would still be valid.

Finally, why are the faster updates such a good thing? Just means there's more chances for something to break every update. I prefer waiting a while for a major update to be completely polished then released.

Never really used Tablets much, and all the ones I've owned have been stolen by family/gf. But I really think the Nexus 9 is the one, partly cause no one can steal it since they all have their own. Its either that or an iPad air 2/rMini2.

You'll be spoilt for choice with those two launching tonight.

The fact you quote 13mp vs 16mp as an argument for camera quality just shows your lack of knowledge in the area. Megapixels play a very very small role in camera quality.

no it doesnt. i am fully aware that the optics matter considerably more but rather than snootily deride what i quite clearly said was a direct spec comparison not an in-depth analysis of the capabilities of each.

defending a thing like its your mother and ive just impugned her chastity isnt in anyway constructive.

I wasn't snootily deriding anything, you were wrong to claim megapixels is any indicator of camera quality and I called you out on the claim. No need to get so touchy about it.

I'll most likely be purchasing the N9 to replace my iPad 3. iOS photo management has always been poor and I am tired of the operating system in general now. Glad HTC are back and the only thing I want to really know about is battery life and of course proper uk pricing.

I love all the volunteers who do the beta testing.

you were claiming because i used mp count as a metric of measurement that i knew nothing regarding cameras and image quality.

shall we simply agree that at this point there is no reason to believe that the n6 will be superior to its closest rival given the note 4's fractionally superior on paper specs?

Ofcourse when new versions of Android are released and Samsung put their touch on it you get a product that is faultless...

I was claiming that because you used mp count as a measurement of camera quality that you knew nothing regarding camera and image quality, and I stand by that claim.

Claiming that the Note 4 has fractionally superior specced camera because it has three extra mega-pixels is like claiming a PC with 24GB of ram is better then a PC with 16GB of ram without knowing anything else about the internals of each PC.

when you have no other metric to go by it would generally be safe to assume that the one with the greater quantity of ram its reasonable to think it likely the better over all machine.

to sit and huff that the one with the lesser spec might be just as good in not better, which while technically true, is the behaviour of what i would expect from fanboi's. refusing to believe that their love is in anyway not perfect and simply the bestest thing ever in the whole wide world.

So let's see, I am claiming that there's no way to judge whether the Note 4 has a better camera until we see more from the Nexus 6 camera and you are claiming that we can know the Note 4 has a better camera because of three megapixels.... and I am the fanboi?

Ok you just carry on with your pointless stat comparisons.

im no fan of samsung. my last one was the galaxy nexus. since then ive had the n4 and the n5 so if anything wouldnt i be the nexus fan?

also its not stat comparison it was a spec comparison, as i had initially expressed that the note 4 has the better specs. which it does.

if it makes you feel better i could say the n6 has better specs? its not true but if itll help you in some way id be happy to.

There's no way to know which camera has the better specs... that's the whole point. Saying the Note 4 has better specs is just useless speculation as megapixels is no indicator of camera specs.

Should I link to a bunch of DSLR cameras on Amazon with 14mp so you can tell me how the Note 4 can take a better picture then them because it has better specs?

Sigh this conversation hurts my head.

The Note 4 may end up taking a better picture then the Nexus 6, but if it does it will have absolutely nothing to do with it having 16mp vs 13mp.

what????? speculation you say??!?!?!?!?

remind me what the name of the thread might be?

You can't judge a phone's performance solely by the amount of RAM it has. The CPU will determine how effectively that RAM is used, as will the OS, the running processes (e.g. Touchwiz), etc. All these will determine performance and so how much RAM alone is a very poor reflector of performance.

It just shows your lack of technical knowledge. I would stop if I was you - you're embarrassing yourself.

I think it's safe to say that the iphone shows that more megapixels do not equal better pictures.

The iphones are known to have had some of the best cameras on phones despite generally have "worse" specs on paper.

For me this nexus 6 is perfect. It offers a flagship cpu, high resolution amoled screen and 3gb of ram. Plus while many seem to be hating the size of the screen, I can't wait as I use phones less as an actual phone and more as a media consumption device in bed etc

The extras that the note 4 offers are of no use to me, when I had a note 3 I never used the stylus at all, and I always flash aosp roms so touchwiz was irrelevant for me.

It was purely down to the bigger screen and screen type. Now all I need is a new amoled tablet so I can replace the tab s which is shockingly laggy.

I currently have an s5 which I've kept stock and to be fair touchwiz has improved greatly, but I'd take stock android any day. Despite both the note and nexus sharing the same amount of ram and cpu I can guarantee that the nexus 6 runs better.

The last nexus device I had was when samsung made it due to the amoled screen, so I'm glad to be picking another one up.

Exactly.

Which is why previous iphones always provided a much slicker and smoother experience than android handsets despite lesser specs. My note 3 had 3gb of ram but my girlfriends 5s running ios7 with 1gb ram was a much nicer experience.

ios8 though has changed that, it's nowhere near as smooth as previous versions unfortunately.

Softweare optimasiton is much more important, even windows mobile os was proof of that, when I had a lumia 800 it was really low spec compared to other android handsets etc but the experience was a much nicer one.

we wernt discussing how much ram it had. he was trying to use computer ram as an analogy to mp count on a camera.

this was after i had pointed that the specs on the note 4 were better, cameras being one of them. i am fully aware that raw mp count does not equate to better images. however he seemed utterly set that i had by saying the specs of the note 4 were better somehow a guarentee that its images taken would be better.

i said its specs were better, they are.

We were talking about the camera specs specifically. There is absolutely no evidence that the Note 4 camera specs are better then the Nexus 6 camera specs. None at all.

My analogy was a good one, because in it there is no evidence at all that the 24GB PC is better specced then the 16GB.
