Also at lvl 25 here but lvl 2 vanguard. Sort of plateud as well.
you really need to get your vanguard rank to a point where you can buy more legendary armor. This will then enable you to start doing the weekly heroic and weekly nightfall.
This will get you more exotics, more legionaries and more strange coins to buy exotics from xur on a weekend.
Then you can start getting your rank up to a point you can start raiding.
Ice breaker can one shot level 30 hob goblins if you get a critical hit. It can destroy devil walkers and public event targets solo. Its a beast in PVE.

In fairness those syphon witches die really quickly to any solar weapon

That would only work if the exotics were raid drop only like in other games. Getting a complete set of exotics is relatively easy in this game compared to other MMOs

That sounds sensible, as I have a decent amount of marks now (170) which should help when reaching 2. Will just keep slogging it out on the strikes etc, to be honest it is fun anyway, even if it's the same levels over and over.
The thing I would add that is a bit frustrating is you can go through hours and hours gaining little, which is what has happened to me for a few days now. I got a bit lucky today as I got the legendary arm drop which has helped a little, I will try to get to 26 tonight when girlfriend has gone to sleep

also buying and levelling and upgrading an exotic armor piece from Xur boosts your light by a significant amount.
wait til you get to lvl 26+, that's when the real nightmare starts.
your progression after lvl 28 is entirely based on raid drop RNG.
I have 4 fully maxed 300 atk guns, 3 legendary armor pieces and 1 exotic armor piece.
I got 0 raid armor drops despite entering the VoG 5 times, and full clearing it 3 times.
There has been absolutely 0 reason for me to play the game for the last 2 weeks, besides the raid, because all of my gear is maxed out on EXP.

Decided my luck is changing in this game, brought the exotic engram for motes and it decoded into The Armamentariumso also got The Turth as well, now all I need is some raid armour to drop tonight and I'll be happy.
Where do you buy that? or is it a random chance your cryptarch will have it? :|
You buy it from Xur for 23 motes of light, rewards from it are random and may not be for your class. Xur is currently on the dock side of the tower, look right when you go through the corridor leading to the docks. He will only be there for another 36 hours or so then he will appear next Friday at another location with different gear
